Bixby Foster Doodle Goes to Work!

Last night, I got home to discover that my air conditioner had broken at some point yesterday afternoon (I had been home at lunch time to walk the dogs and it was working then). By 10pm the inside of my house was 82 degrees. My bedroom was managable to sleep in, but I really didn't think that it would be ok for the dogs to be in the house during the day (reg temp today is going to be 95, and the oppressive humidity will boost that to about 105). Callie was easy to take care of - I knew that she would be welcome at a number of friends' homes or I could just take her to doggie day care. Bixby is another story. While he's a wonderful doodle, he does like to chew on new things, and I didn't like the idea of just shoving him in a crate in someone else's home. Doggie day care was out for Bixby...they require an evaluation day and they are booked two months out on those.

So - Bixby came to the office with me! Once upon a time, we had dogs at the office all the time. Then we had a company survey and it turned out that we had a couple of employees who are scared of dogs. Being scared of Callie is like being scared of a muppet, but I do understand that fear is fear (if someone brought their pet tarantula to the office I would turn around a leave and not be able to even utter a word).

Bixby has been SUCH a good boy! I've mostly kept his presence under wraps, but have invited the dog-lovers to my office to see him. He has snuggled up to each and every person and hasn't uttered a peep when I'm on the phone. He's just sitting quitely on the floor, gnawing at an antler (I continue to bless the people who discovered that antlers make good chew toys, and appreciate the antler pantry for being so inexpensive!).

Why does the AC always have to go during the hottest weather...it never fails? Bixby, you're such a good boy! Hopefully you can get the AC fixed quickly....good luck!

Ick. AC out has to be the worst possible fate during the summer! Bixby is such a good boy! And I'm shocked about how far out your daycare is booked. Daycare must be much less popular in Utah, because the daycares we have looked at always have an opening for evaluation the same day you walk in!

I'm so sorry your AC is broken, but I'm glad Bixby got a chance to go to work...these doodles really do need to earn their keep! Those antlers are expensive!
Seriously, we already knew what a great dog he is, but this just goes to prove it!
