Both Bailey and I survived her first full grooming...

Today was a big day for Bailey ...I found a groomer here in town that had a great reputation for grooming large breeds.  Eric-the-groomer came highly recommended so I jumped in with both feet to finally have Bailey groomed for the summer.  I am pleased with the way she looks but wished he had left her face a little longer as well as the plummes(sp) on her tail.  I actually brought a picture of Banjo with me so he could get an idea of what I was looking for.

 

Eric the groomer was very complimentary towards Bailey's behavior.  He said he was suprised for her age how well behaved she was...Guess that training is paying off hehe.  He also said when she walked into the shop he was thinking of all the mats she must have hiding in her coat....Guess what....Notta one!!!  Yea me and DK grooming members for teaching me how to brush her properly...

I went through the same concerns as you did with Maggie. In fact they look a lot alike with coloring and texture of their coats. Very wavy. Thankfully I found a groomer that does a good job and still is able to keep her longish, just neater and tidier. Plus I find that after about a week I don't look at her and think "she just got a cut." I haven't really gotten into the whole winter-summer cut thing. I just took Maggie to the groomer and I'd say that she and Bailey are about the same lengths overall. It is nice to have them come back tangle-free! Bailey is really beautiful in every picture.

Lisa: Bailey as a little pep in her step too. 

Traci: I use a pin brush (has a rubber cushionie base) all over and then I use a metal widetoothed comb under her arms, inside her legs and behind her ears.  I also use a product called Fur Butter so her hair stays silky soft and makes it much easier to stay detangled.  It's a after bath conditioner..I only brush her about 3 times a week..  Eric the Groomer used the longest clipper blade and went with the fur not against.  Before she was groomed her fur was about 5 inches long now it's about 1.5" or so...

You are going to have a much happier doodle in the summer heat. I find that Daisy is ready for her cut and loves when it happens. Not sure if the spring in her step is because she is cooler or proud of her new doo,
