Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

On Saturday night my husband and I went out for a nice dinner and decided to watch a movie once home. We decided to give Whopper her first bully stick ever. It took her a second to decide if she liked it and then for the next several hours she didn't move or make a sound. We got through the entire movie without her wanting any attention. She carried it into our bedroom that night, slept with it, and in the morning let us sleep in because she still had work to do. On Sunday night, my husband accidentally let her carry her precious bully stick outside and while distracted by neighbors, the bully stick was lost. Whopper came in her happy-go-lucky self but my DH felt horrible. Luckily, the next morning while I was at work, I got a phone call saying that Whopper had found her bully stick outside and all was well again. While Whopper liked nylabones, her obsession with the bully stick is unparalled. Now that her bully stick is gone, she has been focused on her everlasting treat ball and we finally feel like we have a winning combination. I placed an online order for more bully sticks that I hope to utilize to get us through her recovery period after being spayed next Friday. This first bully stick really did guarantee us quiet and a very happy little puppy.

H Lindsey, I just read your cute blog about Whoppers obsession with bully sticks. My daughter has a 10 month old Rhodesian Ridgeback who also loves them but they are gone in 15 minutes. Both she and Gracie Doodle go through them in no time. When we visit our daughter and her husband and go out to breakfast or dinner we usually want to take the "babies" with us when the weather is nice. We get a nice outside table and the "girls" settle in nicely each with a big bully stick. They are like baby pacifiers!!! PS CostCo carries them as well. They are really long so you have to cut them...actually, too hard to cut so you need to use a saw!!! ha ha

I go to our local feed store and they have 36" bully sticks - I cut them to 9" lengths for Abby - it's cheaper that way. So, check you local feed stores. It's surprising what all they carry. Most carry Cowboy brand for dog /cat / horse shampoo and conditioner too. That stuff works great...

Getting jealous here - every time a great site is mentioned, it seems it's a U.S. web site, and I can't get the products in Canada! I looked at Bestbullysticks.com and would love to order from them. Anyone know of a good Canadian website to order from? They are SO expensively individually in the store.

Hi. I received my bully sticks last night and they are huge...at least compared to what we bought in the store last time. I opened the box waiting for that awful smell to seep out and it didn't. They were sealed in an air tight ziploc basically and when I opened that there was a smell but nowhere near the offensive level of the single bully stick I had bought. There were also a variety of 12 different sticks. This morning I gave Whopper one and once out of the bag she immediately took it to her bed. I sat right near her eating breakfast and no longer smelled it at all. I ordered from www.bestbullysticks.com. I ordered the large dog sampler pack and got all sorts of different large bully sticks. Whopper has the braided one now and has been obsessed with it.

I bought a 12" one that lasted that long. I just ordered a sampler package online that I felt was of more value than buying them in the store so I'll let you both know how they are when they arrive. They are 12" ones of various types supposedly. I just hope they don't have the smell!

The initial one we bought did smell and we said that was the last one she was ever going to get. However, after reading posts on bully sticks in the archives here, I decided to try ordering them online to get the non-smelly ones. The shipment is supposed to arrive tomorrow so I'll let you know. There are definitely odorless ones available it's just a matter of finding them.
