Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Last night around 6:45 Whopper finished eating dinner and I decided to take her for a walk in the decent weather before the storm to come. She quickly took care of all of her business and we went on a pretty casual stroll around the neighborhood. Towards the end we ran into her best buddy Kian, a 2 year old golden retriever. As the 2 were playing and carrying on with their usual antics, a small dog showed up and Whopper gave him her usual excited greeting and they moved on after a few minutes. Then a couple showed up and could not get over Whopper and sat down with us for about 10 minutes to discuss how beautiful she is and how soft, etc...Then, on the other side of the fence, another goldendoodle showed up and Whopper went crazy. The owner stopped to chat but unfortunately had her other dog with her who is a little territorial and so the doodle was stuck on the opposite side of the fence as well. After being outside for an hour, Whopper and I finally returned home after all of the excitement. Whopper drank a little water, had a couple ice cubes, and then found her spot on the floor in the living room. At 9 PM we moved to the bedroom to watch something we had only recorded in there and Whopper moved to the floor in there. At 10:15 my husband wanted to take Whopper out a final time before bedtime and she would not budge. We decided to let her be and if she woke us up in the middle of the night we'd deal with her then. At 6:45 the alarm sounded and we still hadn't heard from Whopper. Then, as my husband got up, Whopper jumped in the bed and was sooooooo snuggly. After giving me some time, she followed my husband to the bathroom because she loves being near the running shower. She stayed in there thru his shower and then mine and just waited patiently for both of us to complete our morning rituals. At 7:30, Whopper finally went out for the first time! She actually managed to go over 12 hours with no accidents and the biggest thing was that in the morning she didn't bark or carry on like usual trying to get us to take her out or feed her right away. Maybe we just got lucky or maybe now that she's 6 months she's decided that patience is a virtue. From now on if she's not up and about for the last potty outing we're just going to let her sleep through which is definitely exciting!

Yea...Whopper was going from around 10:30 until about 7:00 for a while now but we always felt that last outing was vital...I guess now she trusts her ability to hold it and sleep is what she wants. But over 12 hours was totally unexpected especially after she had a little water and ice cubes.
