Mazie is unbelievably accurate about telling time. She eats at 7am and 5pm and God help you if you're in the middle of something and try to postpone her meal for, oh, I don't know, 5 minutes? She is relentless! Usually my sweetheart feeds her and takes her out in the morning (much safer for all involved, since I am NOT a morning person) and I'm in charge of dinner. Well, John left early this morning and left Mazie sleeping (on the bed - which is a BIG treat for her) with me. At 7:01am she was politely prodding me with her nose. By 7:10, not so polite!

Same thing in the evenings. She will stop whatever she is doing, even if she is sleeping, and get right in your face at 5pm on the dot. Again, her persistence is remarkable! If I'm on the computer, she will nose the mouse and sigh and continue doing so until she is fed. You could set your watch by her. And daylight savings time? She is not a fan. When you have a dog as sensitive to time as our Mazie, changing the clocks back and forth is no fun. We've tried explaining it to her, but she doesn't believe us.

Hi Nicole,
Oh that was so sweet of you to send me that story. I have read it before serveral times. It touches my heart everytime. I think of Moose and that he would do the same thing. Moose loves the both of us but yes I am his person. I feel that since I have gotten Moose and gotten Married, I get more emotional than I did ever before. Oh my gosh I get all teary eyed at some movies. You should have seen me when I went to see Marley and Me with my Husband. Then when I went to Theater's women's bathroom after, Everybody in there was crying and sniffling. All I wanted to do was get home to my babies. Then I find I'm hugging Moose, my Cat Lucky, and my Husband more and more these days. I guess you can say that I'm turning into an ole sap. LOL LOL. Anyway have a great day. Type with you later. smiles, Kelly

Gracie Doodle is not food motivated so her meal time could pass right by and she would never know. Though, when she was a baby she would come find me at the same time every evening to tell me it was dinner time. She is more of a "social" doodle and always wants to play or go somewhere. My neighbor who has two English Springer Spaniels is a school teacher. The three "girls" are best friends. When my neighbor gets home from school she calls to see if we are ready to take the girls for their walk along the bay. Gracie always does one of two things. She sits on our bed looking out the window and when she sees the car pull in driveway down the street she runs around the house to tell me that Sandy (neighbor) is home. If Gracie should miss that then the minute the phone rings she knows it is Sandy calling and she runs to the door ready to leave. The phone can ring all day and it doesn't mean a thing but...come 4:15 PM every week day, Gracie is waiting for the call. She also know when Poppa is due home. She starts sitting in the living room window watching for him. She gets pretty upset when he is late!!!

Yes, Sadie knows the time too. When Daylight Savings Time stopped it took a few days for her to get used to sleeping in an hour later. Now with the holidays our schedule is a bit messed up, we are up later at night and when it's her bedtime she comes and looks at me. I say you can go tyo bed if you want and she prances to her crate. lol

My Jack knows when my boys are coming home from school. As soon as the General Hospital theme song starts to play, he runs from where ever he is to the front window...tail waggin'...knowing they are coming up the street.

YES--but only when it comes to feeding time :-)
In fact they're usually about an hour early... Never too early for a meal!

YES! My doodle is so much better at telling time than the other dogs i have owned--always accurate--but not just about her own feeding time, but also my cats' feeding time. She will nudge me until I remember to get their food ready. (They live outside, so she goes with me and watches from the other side of the invisible fence.) She feels that this is a job of hers and is very responsible about it! LOL!

I usually leave for work every morning about 8:00 so at 7:45, I tell them, "Mom's gotta go to work" and they go get in their crates. Normally I give them a Kong stuffed with goodies when I leave. Well, on weekends, of course I'm not going to work at 8:00, but just like clock work, at 7:45, Morgan goes to her crate and starts barking! She's ready for her Kong, whether I go to work or not!!

I have noticed this with my doodle too. I have a home office and go in about 8 every morning. He knows that quitting time is at 5:00 and any over time is not allowed by him!
