I don't have a poop bag list (actually I'm lucky if I remember to have a poop bag when I leave the house, let alone a list) - but if I did, I would have just added my first entry. Carol and her husband John are in town for their daughter's wedding, and even with their tight schedule, they graciously stopped by to meet me, Lola and Esau.
Time was short, and there was so much I wanted to say and hear... I'm sure I was talking a mile a minute (sorry if that was the case Carol and John). But let me just say this was one of those rare experiences that was everything you hoped it would be and then some.
They are amazing people - you can tell the moment you meet them. I found them in the lobby of my building by the fireplace, and Carol gave me a big hug as though we had known each other all our lives. John is a true gentleman, who looks you in the eye when he shakes your hand with that look of integrity and class like my grandfather used to do. They are warm, kind, gracious, articulate, intelligent and charismatic - each with a wonderful, matching little twinkle in the eye. No wonder Banjo is so awesome.
Congratulations John and Carol on the wedding, please pass along my congratulations to the bride and groom and have a safe trip home when it's over. Can't wait to see you again when the weather is better and Banjo is here and the dogs can all run around together and play and have a great time.
Cheers!

Thanks everyone. This really is such a great community, I am glad to have found it!
How lucky for you all to meet up. I love the pics.
How fun that you were able to get together! Love the photos! Congratulations to Carol and John on your daughter's wedding!
Love this! It does look a bit chilly in the windy city!
How wonderful, I love seeing DKers meet!
Glad you all had such a wonderful time:)
Jay, You are too kind! It was so nice to meet you face to face, and to meet Lola and Esau!!!!! I had to chuckle to myself when I read "articulate"…….my face and tongue were nearly frozen and I was actually having a difficult time speaking. I wondered to myself if you might think I had a speech impediment! LOL! I should have taken your advice about how to dress for Chicago's weather. You know, real winter boots…..not "fashionable" boots.
Jay lives in an amazing city, in an amazing neighborhood. Visiting Chicago was such a treat. And to see Jay's "world" first hand was just great. He literally walks out the door of his beautiful building (with a wonderful fireplaced lobby) across the road into a lovely park where his dogs and run with other neighborhood friends. If he wants to grab a coffee to go, he needs only to walk next door to a nice little coffee shop. He is a city boy with a huge heart and a warm smile. I didn't feel at all like I was meeting him for the first time. I felt like we were old friends, just catching up!
Lola and Esau are magnificent, well behaved dogs, who clearly adore their Pappa. Esau behaved much like Banjo does when he's left on the sidewalk waiting me to return. Eyes on the door, crying now and again, hoping against hope that the next person to exit is his. It was such fun to watch their antics at the park. Lola is lightening quick and ever so graceful as she runs for the ball.
Thanks Jay, for being understanding about us having to keep our visit short. We plan to return this summer to visit the newly weds and will have plenty of time to spend with you and hopefully Karen!!!!!
Delightful!
Love your photos Jay. What a great doodle lover meet up!
How great that you got to meet! I'm jealous, but Carol says she will be back this summer, hope we get to meet then!
