Chase went for his surgery today!! He did really well and came home full of beans. When Hartley was done he was spaced out for the rest of that day and the next day. You wouldn't even know Chase had anything done!!.... Apart from one thing - he is licking and licking at his incision. We tried the supposidly nasty tasting stuff the vet gave us to discourge him, he licked it off quite happily and carried on! We didn't get a lampshade cone thingy for him and it was too late to go out to get one so I resorted to the Bitter Apple (mean I know, but it had to be done!!). He is now fast asleep on his new bed (well, he has to have something good come out of the day!!). The tricky thing will be keeping him from wrestling with Hartley for the next week, which is how they spend a lot of their time!!

He weighed in at 33.5 pounds, he is five months old. Not bad for a puppy that was supposed to only be 35-40 pounds full grown!! (We were hoping he was going to get bigger than the estimate anyway, so it looks like he is on track for us!!).

Glad he is doing well. Just had Skeet neutered last week. I thought it would be difficult for him since he
is 2 and 1/2 years old, but he acted like nothing happened. He was just upset abouth having to spend the night at the vets

Hi Stella, glad to hear CHase is doing well...he is a cutie.WE had Guinness Neuter'd last month and I put litter boys shorts on him size 5 he than left his stitches alone. He looked SOooo.. cute in them, they worked better than the cone thingy. Oh,his wait at the time was 44lbs at 6mths. Just thought I'd let you know....hav fun.

I am glad to hear that Chase is doing well and that the bitter apple seems to be working. Edgar has his turn next Wednesday and if it can be avoided, I'd rather not have to use the collar. They always look so miserable. I'll be interested in hearing how you manage to keep him from his usual play. That is the part I am most concerned about - keeping a puppy quiet! It just doesn't seem like an easy task.

Aww, Chase is adorable, a beautiful color! Glad everything went well. The lampshade cone thingy is called an Elizabethan collar; if you can get by without one, that's great! They are miserable things, they are always banging into everything while wearing them.

Chase...my man....a new bed eh?...figured out how to play this "Neuter Thing" to the max!!!!!....if you practice your "hang dog" look you can parley this into some fine stuff!....Seriously, I'm glad you are feeling well....I just got my recheck at the vet yesterday....she is a very happy doctor...and always glad to see me....I have a few of the inside stitches sticking out...so they clipped them...and I am good to go.....I have to give you a little advice....don't be licking those stitches....or your folks are gonna put you in a stupid looking collar that does nothing for your image....(our image has already been tarnished by what the vet did to us...right)...so hang in there....and keep your tongue in your mouth.....Beemer

Glad to hear you both Chase is okay. I put a tee shirt on Samantha which seemed to have dissuaded her from licking but it sounds like Chase would ignore it. Give the boys hugs and kisses from Samantha!

Glad to hear that Chase is doing well. Make sure he doesn't lick, I've seen nasty infections resulting from it. You can always put a T shirt on him and tie it at the bottom. I know people who have done that.
