Chervil passes CGC test!

This week Chervil passed her Canine Good Citizen test! We've been in a prep class with the same fabulous trainer I've worked with since she was a puppy, and we've been practicing like mad--and then I did what some of you suggested in a different post: I tried to relax and have fun. So now I'm being a big goober and ordering the tag and badge and all that--SO compensating for a childhood bereft of awards!!

Thanks for all the congratulations, everyone (especially April--who is Chervil's breeder!)!! I keep walking around talking to her: "Is there a Canine Good Citizen in the house?" I'm such a dweeb.

Christine: Chervil is 17 months. We went through the Star Puppy program, too. My trainer wouldn't let her into her CGC prep class until now, because she wanted Chervil to have more settle for both of us to be able to enjoy the class--i.e., she knew I could "push" her through it earlier, but she didn't want either of us to have that experience. Then just recently she put together a very small class (three) of young dogs, and asked me to be part of that. Because they were all on the youngish side, we had the same issues (attention, excitability, goofiness) to work with, and the puppies really bonded. I know some people have had their dogs pass the test at an earlier age, but I think this was about as soon as Chervil was mature enough to be consistent. I'm sure your trainer can help you decide the best time.

Congratulations to you and Chervil. Out of curiosity.... how old is she? Shelby is currently in the AKC Star Puppy class.... like CGC for puppies.... I am curious at what age to have her take the CGC class.
