Puppy Socialization class is over - and has been for a month or so.. it was only 4 weeks.. But Chester went from quivering under my chair to playing with the other pups in the class (sort of ) on the last day.
We noticed that he didn't take to little dogs and liked older bigger dogs that have his colouring..
Now..at 5 months and 44 Lbs.. he wants to meet every dog he sees..
The transformation is amazing- we are so happy that he is sociable.
Now other dogs are a little nervous of him. I was a little worried about the meeting between him and my SIL shitsu as the shitsu is usually quite aggressive. They met today and Chester wanted to play and the shitsu cowered under the kitchen chairs. By the end of the visit- it was a short one. The Shitsu was a little bit calmer - they didn't really play. I restrained Chester so that the shitsu could smell him.
I can't believe the role reversal. I think that we can look into enrolling him in puppy daycare-or dog parks. I have been avoiding those places as he really wasn't playing with other dogs or pups.
I hope our next play date with my SIL dog goes better.

Good Luck, it truly is wonderful to watch your pup playing. Daisy is particular but she has a few good friends.
She use to go to daycare and play, no longer though, she is not interested since she was bitten in the back.
Hazel, if you have a daycare near you, I would give it a try. You could always take him there for a few hours at a time to get him used to it. The daycare will temperment test him with other dogs to make sure that everyone is safe to play together.
Ollie never played with Cubbie until I started taking him to a daycare. It was almost like he had to "learn" how to play with other dogs. Daycare really helped in my situation.
