Chester is on the verge of mastering Leave it- DH has been busy with the homework lessons. We were warned that the last week involves hamburger on the floor as a Leave it test.
We started the class showing off Leave it. He is doing good (in low distraction areas)..
There were only 3 dogs in the class this week- Including Chester. The Springer (Gracie) and the Britteny (Porter).
Porter is the most aggressive of the dogs (And the oldest). It is good to have a mix of different puppies to play with.
We learned 'Recall'- or Come, Lay Down, and walking well on leash.
The off leash play went much better today- Chester came out of his wall flower state of last week. He played with Gracie.
Gracie and Porter would roughhouse together and Chester wasn't having anything to do with the 2 of them together. They were playing well and pretty enthusiastically together.
He played a bit and then would come sit under our feet- or up on 2 legs across the bench with his back to the others..The instructor encouraged him to come back with the others. He would be sitting on the floor and the other 2 would come over and smell and nose him into playing he did a bit but preferred playing on his terms.
There was a moment when it got too aggressive for Chester and he made a yelp- Which caused a time out for the Brittany Spaniel. I was impressed that the instructor and his parents recognized that would allow Chester to relax and have playtime with the other puppy.
I can't wait to see what will happen next week..
