I took our darling Cocoa on a meet and greet to a prospective adopter's home last night. What a wonderful experience. Cocoa was a perfect lady during the entire visit. She was friendly and animated but also mellow and undemanding. I was so proud of Cocoa and happy for her!
This family is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT, four adults ranging from a daughter in her twenties to an 80-ish grandmother who is in a wheelchair. Cocoa came up and sniffed grandmother's hand and then put her head in her lap. This thrilled the granny who said, "Cocoa, we are going to be best friends".
There are three cats in the house and Cocoa was quite mellow and friendly with them. I don't think that there will ever be a love affair like between Cocoa and our little rescue Maltese, Jacob but, there won't be any trouble either.
There are absolutely no negatives to this adoption. I was waiting for the "perfect" home and think that we have found it.

This is wonderful. thank you Richard for the update and to the DRC for everything!
Richard, you and Judy have done a wonderful job with Cocoa! Of course, you always do an incredible job with all of your fosters....: )......It goes without saying that we trust you and Judy and your judgement implicitly when it comes to any dog in your care. We all know there is a special place in heaven for anyone who gives a senior dog a second chance for a happy and healthy life....We are blessed to have incredible volunteers like you and Judy and wonderful adopters willing to do just that...... Thank you and Judy so much for being our most beloved and cherished friends and for being part of our DRC family.
We fostered Cocoa but, it was Kim, Michelle and the other DRCinc. folks who were instrumental in Cocoa finding her furever home. It started with the wonderful volunteer who Michelle found and who drove out of her way on a return drive from Canada to rescue Cocoa from her terrible life. Kim was so conscientious about forwarding me the adoption applications and she trusted my judgement regarding a suitable home for Cocoa (for which I will always be grateful). I am sure that Kim thought that there will never be an application good enough to satisfy Richard! Anyway, it has been a successful team effort that paired a wonderful doodle up with a wonderful family. Mission accomplished!
I'm so happy to hear that Cocoa is going to be part of a wonderful family. Richard and Judy, you guys do such great work. I hope all your good deeds are returned to you tenfold.
This is such wonderful news, Richard. Thank you for all that you do with the rescues.
Oh Richard...you did it again!!! Congratulations!
I'm so excited to hear this and what a great addition for the family! They won't believe how love a Doodle brings into a family!
So happy to hear!
