The past couple of nights, Remington has been so extremely good for me. He goes out to potty right away, no crying when in the crate, and all I have to say is "crate time" and he walks right in there with no problems. However, when I got home from work on Monday night Dan and Remington were going head to head! LOL!

I called Dan right before I went into my evening job as a cheer instructor to see how Remington was doing. Dan was extremely frustrated with him! It had been raining for the past couple of days so Remington was NOT looking forward to going outside. Dan had taken him out like five times in the past couple of hours. Then right after they got back inside with Remington not doing his business... he pees on the rug right by the door! OOPS! Dan was NOT thrilled with this behavior!

Anyways, I arrived home with Remington in the corner of the kitchen with his head down and Dan in the other corner glaring at our little angel :) I felt so badly because you could tell that Remington knew he was in big trouble. He came up to Dan a little later to snuggle with him as if to say... "I'm sorry Dad." I think Dan forgave him right after that! It is hard to stay mad at that sweet little face :)

I remember a time when I was finding yellow stains on my white ceramic tile kitchen floor. Once I discovered it I was more vigilent watcing Sam for signals to go out. If he peed by the door just after coming in in front of you I would take himout and use your cue---mine was taught "go potty" from the start by the breeder. After napping, after eating, after playing. Make it fun to be out in the rain( even if it is not). Puppies are work, but they do grow up. Sam is 18 months and a lot of fun. Unfortunately accidents will happen, but Doodles are smart and will figure it out with your help. Fortunately mine loves the rain, the mud, the sand, the water. He was an Oct baby, so in the spring as the snow melted he would look for snow piles to pee on, and finally when the snow was all gone he figured out the grass was good to pee on too. Have fun. You are on a great site for support.

Some dogs do not like to go out in the rain. My son's huge doberman Hates wet grass and rain. You have to shove him onto the wet grass and insist that he go. Good think this is southern California and it isn't wet too often.

Accidents are going to happen - it is a fact of puppy life. Remington WAS by the door - sounds like he was trying to tell Dan that he had to go but Dan's Doodle language needed a little interpreting! Why don't you get the potty chimes (I use the Chrsitmas bells that go on the door) - sounds like Remington knows where he has to go when he needs to potty so if he rings the bells it will be a universal lanugage.

Remington knows just how to get to Daddy's heart - a little snuggle and all is forgiven!! How cute
