We went over to my friend's house a week ago or so, and she introduced Darwin to Poe, her adorable little bunny. To be honest, I wasn't sure how Darwin would react so I sat right next to him as he approached the cage. His reaction was so cute! He sat and stared right at that bunny, wagging his tail. No barking, nervousness, or pawing the cage. Just watching it. He sat there for about 30 minutes. He would occasionally run over to us then run back to the cage (this is his way of trying to get us to look at something) but other than that, he did not move. The bunny walked to the front of the cage and for a bit, they were touching noses. It was adorable.

Must have been lovely for you and your friend to watch the interaction between Darwin and the bunny.

I am pretty sure Poe being out of the cage would have been a disaster. If the bunny ran, he probably would chase it. Not to hurt it, but he would think it was playing. He would probably also accidentally crush it by stepping on it or pawing it...

We have had an explosion of the chipmunk population this year.

What a good boy, Darwin!
Jack made friends with a chipmunk who was sunbathing on our patio yesterday a.m. He just nudged it and sniffed it. I went to get the camera, but the chipmunk bolted before I could get a photo. And then of course, Jack did chase it. He has done this with baby bunnies, too. He only chases when the small animal runs; if it holds still, so does Jack.
Darwin is such a sweet doodle! I wonder what he would have done if Poe was not in the cage? Maybe eventually, they will be playmates, lol!

Darwin is a very good boy. We went to a friend's house and they had a parrot in an outdoor aviary. Clancy would not leave it alone - but of course, the bird taunted him with his vocabulary.

This is so cute! We had a Lab and a Golden for years who coexisted with our two bunnies (Bugs and Jellybean). They were never best buddies, but they managed to live together in harmony. I love your sweet Darwin.

Too cute! My dogs would have killed the rabbit in less than 30 seconds.
