Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I posted something on this yesterday, but I am posting a new blog sincerely asking my DK friends to keep the state of TN in your thoughts. We have had some serious flooding - parts of Middle TN look as bad as New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

Judi (Dan, Judi and Timbow) is down in Atlanta and said the national news coverage is not showing the true devastation. She looked at this link and was shocked at the true picture of what is going on here:

http://www.newschannel5.com

I have 5 friends who have lost their houses - when I say friends, I mean good friends and when I say lost, I mean LOST.

If you count everyone I know, it would be over 30 people without homes or stranded or with major damage. People are still stuck in water, in their houses, etc...

Please continue to pray. I am fine and safe. I know Yvonne N. (Astro's mom) on DK is fine. I know Peri's breeder is fine. But all of us know WAY TOO MANY people who are not okay.

Sorry for the dramatic posting, but the more people praying/thinking of the folks here, the better!

Many thanks,

Allyson (Peri and Taquito)

Yes, water is a problem. I am terrible - I took a long shower but I had too! I had been removing dry wall and furnishings from my friend's house today - contamination - yuck.
Thanks for thinking of everyone.
Of course I am keeping New Orleans in my thoughts too. And everywhere else in the Gulf. Wow what a crazy time.

I just heard some news about it on NPR radio; there is a danger of a water shortage, since one of the two water filtration plants serving the area is itself underwater!

No, the national media is not covering it. I was looking for it specifically last night because I have friends from Tennessee. With everything going on here in New Orleans, our local stations had more coverage than the national media.

I thought about you often this weekend. We had sirens going off both nights this weekend. Nothing but a truck loan of rain though. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your friends.

There was a significant amount of coverage on tonight's national news. It seems like there is one disaster after another here and abroad. We are thinking of you and hoping the flood waters recede quickly and the road to recovery can begin.

NBC finally showed some of the devastation tonight. It looks terrible. I have seen two rivers flood and the destruction is beyond reason. Not only the water but the contamination from all kinds of chemicals. My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Tennessee.

My thoughts and prayers are with all our neighbors and friends in Tennessee. I hope that things will get better soon.

Thank you for alerting us to how bad this really is. We all tend to go through our daily lives without REALLY taking the time to pay attention and we barely listen to whatever news is deemed newsworthy. I am so glad to hear that our doodle families are ok, but I am so sorry about others who are not.

I hope everyone is okay that is from Nashville. I know Terri Fann and her doodles are in Brentwood and it was hit hard. I have friends there as well and it is devastating. Sending prayers your way! Nashville is dear to my heart since we used to live there.

For those of you who have visited and know the Gaylord Opryland Hotel/Convention Center...it is currently under 10 feet of water....that is inside the building. We are very lucky to be safe and on high ground. We all appreciate your thoughts and well wishes. It will take us a while to dry out, but we will survive with the help of our friends.
