Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
My friend (I think that is still the proper term) picked up a "free puppy" at WalMart Monday, saying she couldn't resist and was afraid of what might happen to him. Her husband was furious because she is terminally rescuing something. She brought the little guy in and asked me to keep it to "save her marriage". Much to my amazement, he looked like a "solid black Murphy". Took him to the vet, got his first shots, worming etc. With the web feet, her guess was a labradoodle or a Newfie and 8 wks old. This guy even has the same laid back personality Murphy had as a pup, especially apparent after being around the Weimaraner pup
I don't need or really want another puppy. Black dogs are not my favorite. My back porch and stairs are now in the middle of renovation, meaning all I have is a ladder to the back yard. Not the best plan for a new pup..
My other issue is that I am now a "doodle snob". I know if I get another dog, it will be a doodle. And I don't know what this little guy is. There is one other person definitely interested, but everyone who sees him falls in love (makes me think he is a dood). He looks like a little black bear.
I am sorry if I have offended anyone...just struggling here.

I don't see Newfoundland there; maybe Giant Schnauzer? The muzzle reminds me a lot of Schnauzer puppies, I'm going to have to try to find a photo.
Whatever he is, he's adorable!
Donna, I will certainly stipulate that they have to join DK...and offer to baby sit.
I do not go nuts over puppies. I am usually pretty rational. I am a bit confused here.
Yes, getting a little attached. So whoever gets him will have to be very special.
By his teeth, the vet thought he was 8 weeks..so 9 weeks now. He weighed 7 lbs last week and I think about 8-9 lbs now. With my yard torn up, I have to walk him in the common ground. One of my long time neighbors saw him yesterday and screamed " OH WOW! A BLACK Murphy!!" She is one of the few to remember Murphy as a pup I guess.
He sleeps all night in the crate,,wakes at 6 am. As long as we take him out soon enough he is housebroken.
My son and some others are home with him during the day so he does get walked and attention.
He gets wound up at night and is so darn cute. He can barely do the stairs now (at least up). He really liked the cat (who was being extremely tolerant) until he pushed a little too much. She backed up ...bowed up...and wacked him about 10 times across the face with her clawless paws. Pup backed up...sat down..looking confused...and PEED everywhere. LOL Poor little guy.
I am strongly considering sending a DNA sample off.
Joanne, Newfies down here are very rare. The people that I know that have one, got him from Ohio I think..
OMD he is just so cute!!! I am looking a newfie pics but their eyes and ears seem a bit more droopy... Linda, how much does he weigh? Any idea on how old he is? His paws sure look big though!
