Since no one appropriate has applied to adopt him, Finnegan is still enjoying his time with Murphy, me and Blair
Witch Cat, who does very well with him. Finn has figured out that she doesn't have claws so he just takes the nose boxing and keeps coming.

The back deck now has stairs so our lives are much easier.  Finn still has a few accidents in the house (on Murphy's bed unfortunately) but as long as he goes out frequently enough, he does great.

He is now 14 lbs and ~10-11 wks old.  He is still sweet, but a lot more feisty.  Very smart little guy.

He has the thickest hair I have EVER seen and it is already about 2 inches long .... totally straight. I have looked everywhere for pups that look like him....the only thing close is a Newfie (oh my). I sent the DNA test off Monday and they said it would take ~3 weeks. Here is one phone picture of him. Will post more this weekend.

I missed this blog while I was away and had to go to your page looking for an update on the drop off puppy.  You named him Finn!  That was what I was hoping for!  Will stand by for more updates :)

what a sweetie. Can't wait to find out what he is. What about a Bernise mix of some sort? He has such fluffy fur.

The one I got is supposed to cover 168 breeds. If his parents are in there, it should work. Its an SNP protocol, matching bands. (I do molecular work everyday, but don't have the comparison database. Not as simple as just getting primers and running it.)

I had to do do a bucal swap...actually it was a brush.  His mouth is tiny and I hope I got enough cells. I wanted to just draw blood.

How accurate are the DNA tests, just curious?  Finn is certainly a looker.  Thanks for the update.  I look forward to more pics soon.

Elizabeth, I agree.   Yesterday I met an 8 week old Mastiff/St. Bernard mix that already weighed 25lbs.  When I was debating on which dog to choose, a doodle or a smaller Mastiff puppy, the mastiff already weighed 25lbs. So if Finn is from any of the GIANT families I would think he would weigh more at 10-11 weeks.

To me, he just doesn't seem stocky enough to be a Newfoundland. Granted, I've only seen a couple of Newfie puppies and known a few more Great Pyrenees puppies, but, even as puppies, they seem much bigger to me than this puppy is. (How many times can I say puppy in one sentence?) You get the sense that there is a lot of mass packed into a small package with those puppies. Finn seems finer-boned than that.

But whatever he is, he is a beautiful puppy!
