"Puppet" is what my 14 month old daughter Laila calls the puppy, er, I mean Sable. I guess this is proof that I need to stop referring to Sable as "The Puppy", and use her name, "Sable"... But honestly? I don't even care, because I love to hear Laila point at Sable and say "Puppet!" with a smile on her cheeky little face! She has a dimple above her lip on the right side, and it is so cute, I think it is unique, as I cant' say that I've ever seen a dimple on someone in that particular locale. AND..............Sable no longer jumps up on Laila, in fact, I think they are becoming quite good palls, as the two of them are home most often with me, it stands to reason that they would eventually call a truce and bond! OK, back to the puppy, oops, I mean Sable.
Yesterday we took Sable to an Apple Orchard down the road from us called
"Douglas Orchard". Sable had fun eating raspberries and taste-testing apples. There was a very smallish sign that read, "No Pets in the Patch.", but we didn't think Sable would be too much trouble, so she came with us! She rode in the little red wagon with Lial for a bit, but she kept jumping out, so my mom said, "Oh, just let her out, she'll be fine." And I did! We decided to take Grandma Louise (my mom) down the class-4 road on the way home, it's been dry in September, so it wasn't too bad, but I did flip on the 4-wheel peel and drop it into 3rd just in case... (Read on for more about class 4 roads)
Sable is cute and fluffy and has even gotten a chance to nap on the bed with me a couple times. DH said, "Are you gonna let Toby and Cody up here too?" to which I replied, "They shed, she doesn't"--case closed I think.... DH has nicknamed Sable "Meatball". This is a positive step, really, a term of endearment, umm, perhaps.... Toby is "Meat'head" and Cody is "Meat-stick", so I guess he's getting used to her!
Speaking of Cody, he has allowed Sable to run and play with him a bit more and I LOVE to see the two of them running around together! Today we went for a walk down the "Class 4 Road" by our farm, and Toby didn't want to come with....But Cody came! He was peppy and playful, it was cute. For you city-folk; a "Class-4 Road" is a road that is usually dirt, narrow, and not maintained to the same standards as regular commuter/driving roads. In fact, there is a sign that reads: "CLASS 4 ROAD: ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK". Amazingly, all GPS systems AND map-quest direct people to use this road.....needless to say, my DH has pulled quite a few unsuspecting flat-landers out of there with a tractor more than a time or two, at $100 bucks an hour of course, [[Hey, we got 6 moths to feed on this farmstead, and lose money every time the milk truck pulls away.... How many businesses are expected to operate at a loss and still provide top quality, clean, sanitary, nutritional product (milk)for the community/county?]]
Update on doodle fever: I'm thinking about getting an F1 mini-goldendoodle instead of another mini ALD. I found a mid-west/central US breeder that I really think I like, they live on a farm like me, and they have RED puppies coming
up around Christmas time! Here is there website: http://www.countryminidoodle.com/ I don't even know if they are on doodlekisses, so if someone knows of them or has got a puppy from them, please let me know. I'd love to hear a first-hand testimonial/reference!
Update on house-breaking: less poopies in the house, more asking for the door, awesome.
Totally random Sunderland Updates: It was picture day today in school, I have 3 in school, I have all girls, picture my house this morning....Needless to say, they all missed the bus! But... alls well that ends well! (Umm, that's pending the picture results...) AND.................I got stung by an effing hornet yesterday, errrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! I have never been allergic, but my arm is swelled up HUGE in a red, itchy, painful and tingly 4" diameter circle around the sting site.
I gave away an $85 pair of shoes to a teacher at school last week cause they cave my blisters, (God telling me I shouldn't have bought them maybe?) And so I found a pair on ebay for 19 bucks, they are Clarks, "Privo", and I love them, I never wear shoes in the house, but THESE, these, I can't take off! It literally feels like I'm getting a mediocre foot massage!
