It felt like Christmas morning! the first real snow storm for Quincy, and it is a doozie. We got up early and looked out the window to find about a foot of snow covering the hill-so much that the waterfall is merely a lump of snow hills.
I decided to be proactive! I found pantyhose knee highs and a t-shirt and dressed Quincy. My husband made me take the hose off since he said Quincy could not walk right and he would fall down the stairs (one of his favorite mantras=he is going to kill himself the way he runs down those stairs) Anyway, I took them off and brought him down safely, reapplied and tucked his shirt in---OK! ready. We did get a good foot and so DH got the shovel and started making a pee-pee path for the dood. Quincy got the hang of it and soon plowed through-seeming to have a good time. But wait, what was he chewing on? the pantyhose of course! A whole landscape of delightful snow drifts and Quincy is sitting there in the snow chewing on a knee high...DH got them away and Quincy did manage a few romps, but it is really deep for him. So, in he came, covered in snow balls. I got out the hair dryer and did the best I could-but those suckers really stick. I guess licking on these snowballs brings back memories for the poor boy! He is now up on the couch defrosting and melting all over on a blanket with his head on the DH lap. I am sure we will only get to repeat this a dozen or so times today! and by the way, he still has not peed!

Beautiful photos!!! Love the pantyhose idea, but obviously Quincy's too big of a manly dood to wear them :)
He is adorable!! It looks like he really enjoyed the snow, judging by the snowballs! Stay warm!
Really fun blog. Love the defrosting photo!
Those knee highs! LOL "Oh the humanity!" Loved your blog Lori!
Lori, Great blog. My dogs love the snow so much, but boy, do I hate those snowballs :) Loved the pictures.
We do warm water in the bath. Much easier for him to dry off from water than have huge snowballs stuck in his fur.
Thanks Lisa, yes we do love our Quincy! A friend gave him a gift when we got him and wrote on the card: "Quincy, you lucky pup, you just won the lotto getting adopted by the Polin family" And, I think there are a lot of other very lucky doodles on these pages as well !
Quincy, you are such a lucky doodle, your momma loves you so much.
Great blog Lori!
Warm water at the back door and then off to the shower to rinse off the rest. It's worth it, she loves the snow so so much.
I've never put human clothes on before-he was trying to figure the whole thing out. I still don't know how he managed to get his front paws out of the sleeves and the neck around his torso-missed that part standing inside the door trying to stay warm! We went for a long walk on the road today, still sooooo much snow.
Lori, he looks so cute in his shirt and pany hose, but from the look on his face I think you did the right thing by taking them off! Whoa! that is a lot of snow and I cannot even imagine dealing with it. Of course, I am a native California woman and very little snow experience. I hear so much aboust snowballs on DK and your picture made it all clear to me! They actually are snowballs hooked onto their fur. Oh my, what a job to get them off! I am still trying to imagine how long it takes for them to dry off and not be cold. Brrrr, makes me cold to think about it. Have a good snow/snowball day:)
