doodle romp Saturday--with a shaved doodle!

I can't wait to meet the other DK members and their doods at the doodle romp in Canton, Connecticut on Saturday! If you want to get in on it, check out the posts on the New England Doodles group page.

I will be a bit embarrassed to bring my Lyric--she has a nice big, fluffy head and a very skinny shaved body. I think my groomer sees one mat and shaves the whole dog. She had some mats here and there, but I didn't expect all her hair to be very short! Oh, well, it will grow back! I did ask for her head to stay "doodle-y" and not as short as her body and the groomer did manage to do that.

I am going to try to bring Lyric to the groomer more often so that i can keep up with the mats and just have her hair cut to a shorter length, rather than cut so close to the body.

I retire in just three months, so maybe I can start doing the grooming myself....hope so!!

The Doodle cake was for the Doods. I baked for them, and got "store bought" cookies for the humans. LOL They loved it....frosting Doodle faces.

It really was so much fun! I'm way too tired to do the pics and video tonight, but tomorrow it's in the plan. These Doodles were all so beautiful, and it was totally amazing how well they all got along, My Doods are exhausted. Early to sleep tonight for all of us, and thanks for those who came out for a really fun day.

Had a GREAT time at the doodle romp today--great dogs and great people! Thanks so much to Jane and her hubby Dave for organizing the event and making an awesome doodle cake!

Cheryl--you mean every two MONTHS, right? I don't think you could afford it every two weeks! I also pay $75 and the woman gets them really clean, but doesn't have the patience or know-how to comb out mats, then clip. If the clipper won't go through the mats, she just goes below them. May good groomers work out the mats before clipping, so the coat is longer. I know that Lyric had some matting, but not so much that she couldn't comb it out. I will see if I can afford every two months instead of four and try to keep mats out so that she can use her clippers freely. The funny part is that I will be doing half the work and will still pay $75!!! LOL! Looking forward to the doodle cake!!

Just finished making a "Doodle Cake" for tomorrow. Baking isn't one of my strengths, but I'm thinking the Doods won't notice. Tomorrow is the frosting challenge.

My beautiful Oliver came home like that several weeks ago fromthe groomer, skinny body, doodle head and full tail...He looked so funny. It is growing back, but I too, will keep it shorter due to matting..It is really expensive here to get them bathed and groomed...Like 70-75 a time,too much for more then once evey two weeks for me..Si I have been brushing him myself nearly everyday, and it is ok, but I do love when they are groomed professionaly, they look so polished, lol...Well I have enough trouble doing my own hair let alone froom this guy, lol

I can't wait to see all the Doodles tomorrow, and to meet you and Lyric! As long as they kept her face Doodley...that's the most important thing. I'm keeping Guinness pretty short for the hot weather, but I don't let them do his face. See you tomorrow!

Sounds like we might have another Bobble Head in the group. Adina said the same thing happened to Rosco and he came home with a huge head and skinny body...Bobble Head!!!! lol
