Well it's day two. Today it was Guinness who got up at 6:00...he wanted us to let his brother out of the crate so they could play. DH took them out to go potty and then they "joined me" in bed. Have you ever been licked to death by two Doodles at the same time while you're trying to sleep? Doodle tongues all over my face....very wet Doodle tongues. I figured that was my "cue" to get up.

I used to wonder and worry a little about whether I could love a new dog as much as I loved Guinness. He and I had such an amazing bond. I knew I would love any dog, but I wondered if it would be with the same intensity I felt for Guinness. Well that question has been answered. Last night I was in the kitchen cooking dinner and the boys were laying on the floor right next to me. Murphy was sound asleep and he started to have a dream...a bad dream. He started to tremble and cry in his sleep. Guinness quietly got up and went over to him and softly licked his face. The puppy woke up for a minute, looked up at Guinness, and give him a little Doodle kiss back. Then they both went back to sleep. This whole thing just melted my heart...it was one of those amazing moments in life. I felt such love for both of them...and that love was equal and perfect.

Double zoomies....I hadn't even thought about that before. Last night it happened, and it was a sight to behold. I couldn't stop laughing as these two "clowns" zoomed around the house until their tongues were hanging out and they just couldn't run any more. It was wonderful.

Yesterday we trained sit with Murphy. This is the first of a series of reasons "why two Doodles are better than one" (for my friends who are trying to convince their DH's). In less than an hour Murphy was consistently sitting on command. Why? Was it because of my fabulous training techniques? Nope, he was watching his big brother. I tried it again this morning to see if he would remember. He did. He sat patiently and waited for me to make their breakfast. He copies pretty much whatever Guinness does which I'm finding is a huge training "leg up".

Today is bath day for the "little one". He has his Vet appointment tomorrow so I want him to look (and smell) wonderful. It should be interesting. I'll try to get pictures or a video.

That's it for now. I've got to get some things done to get ready for the "birthday bash" tonight with the grand kids.

I love that your dogs are named after!! Irish Beers. How adorable, hiccup. I love your blog. Guinness is a special dog and Murphy will always be the little brother no matter how big he gets. I need to bring Sheila to your house so Guinness can teach her. She trains really well, but if she doesn't sniff a treat around its like, oh she doesn't mean it. And I could use a zooming partner. I'm not an energetic enough playmate!! Sheila did let me play mahjongg all afternoon (crate right by us) and whined when she needed to go out. I'm thinking, I'm not in the kitchen enough near the door for her to make the connection to bark or whine. And she isn't crated that often . She knows the p and p commands, we just have to get her to ask to go out. Guinness would teach her, I am sure!!

Wouldn't that be nice!
Jane, you can find all kinds of photos of the Murphy's logo if you do a seacrh for "Murphy's Irish Stout" and then Images. There was even a photo of a can of Murphy's and a glass of Guinness side by side, but I couldn't copy it.

Karen --- maybe you just need another puppy that likes to take Jack's ball and run --- then Jack could just chase the puppy and you wouldn't have to throw the ball all the time.

When my girls were puppies they used to like to get underneath things --- anything they could fit under was fair game. As they grew it was fun to see them with curious looks on their faces when they no longer fit under something. It was cute as well that Lucy got bigger quicker than Sophie and Sophie would still be able to get under things that Lucy couldn't so Sophie would get Lucy to chase her then run underneath something she knew Lucy couldn't get under ----- I can just picture Guinness starting to figure this out as Murphy get bigger!

Oh, Karen, I LOVE this...."Murphy's Irish Stout". I've never tried it. Going to check out my liquor store to see if they can get it....it must be good! I'm going to have to save this picture. It will appear on my page at some point. Two Doodles with Irish beer names...how perfect.

I know exactly what you mean! Since I've had two doodles, I am always laughing at their antics.

Congratulations, very happy for you! Your new "little one" sounds like a wonderful pup....have a ton of fun for the birthday boys. Our saving grace for multiple doodles/doggies is the law... who knows what would be for us, if it wasn't for the four only law, lol.

Yes, I am contemplating a 3rd dog because of this...something about 2 doodles being together, playing together. My DH thanks you Jane :)
Really, so happy for you I can't tell you enough!
