I want to thank all of you who welcomed me when I signed up for DoodleKisses around the end of 2011. Your welcoming words meant the world to me. I was at a particularly low ebb at the time - a never ending bronchitis that began the week before Thanksgiving had me drained. I just want to say that things are a lot better with Dudley now. I got a helpful book - Leader of the Pack by Baer and Duno - which changed some things. Dudley now eats after we do instead of before.  I hadn't realized how important that was. (Alphas eat first.) We walk him on lead in a heel position rather than letting him have free roam with a retractable lead. He is much calmer and seems content at our sides. When he gets agitated, we calm him, both with giving him time out in his crate and with soothing words and strokes. I have never had a dog this anxious before. It took me a long time to realize that we need to calm him at first signs rather than let him get crazed. Finally, because his cholesterol tested high, we are making his food. He really likes it. So with all of these changes, he hasn't had a seizure for at least a month, maybe longer. I hope to return to DoodleKisses more often now, but I just wanted to say thanks and share that things are much better.

That's great news! And you have just pleasantly reminded me that Duncan needs a refresher on the heel vs retractable freedom. I love the name Dudley. It was actually one of the names in the running when I named Duncan. I had 4 names: Drover, Darwin, Dudley and Duncan. And funny enough there's a Darwin who is a member of DoodleKisses. So now i need to see if there's a Drover. Oh and since having Duncan and realizing how he "vacuums" up the crumbs in my kitchen I've thought about changing his name to Dyson or Hoover. HA! Hope your bronchitis is better too.

I am so happy to hear this great news.  I also really need to applaud you for all the hard work you're doing to turn this around for Dudley.  I really respect this so much....here's hoping that things will continue to get better and better for Dudley.

It's wonderful to hear that life is calmer and Dudley is doing so much better. Great that he hasn't had a seizure in a while too.  Long may it continue and I look forward to hearing lots more good things happening soon.
