The look on her face is quizzical.  What in the world are we doing?  No furniture, no pictures,  everything smells funny.  Where is everyone??

Everything is out of whack!  For Shelby, she has only had one home and is used to the family routine.  We are remodeling our home to put on the market so we can move back to Oklahoma after school is out.

She looks so sad and it just breaks my heart.  This isnt how she really is...

She isnt ready for change but definitely wants to go everywhere with us.  Her emotions have played a role in all aspects of life such as playing, going outside and just plain koolin time with the kids.  Except eating! LOL.

Has anyone had to move with their Doodle since they have come home?  I could use some advice...

So glad you liked the blog.  I liked it so much last year I booked marked her website.  She is good.   Although it really does not help your situation ... I thought this might be perfect.  I re-read the article today and I thought of your dog and mine  ( Starlit hates it if a blade of grass is not lying correctly let alone moving--UGH!)   Hope you all find some peace.

Please Give Shelby lots of hugs and some more hugs from us here in Ohio.   Stop by on your way to Oklahoma from Florida.  It is on the way, isn't it   HA!

There was a blog ( not about Doodles but a good one ) about a couple who moved West to Oregon.  It has some dog speak written into the article from the dog perspective and how they perceived this traumatic event.   It will make you laugh and lighten this up a bit for  you.  It has been a year but was posted on DK.  Let me see if I can find it.  So far, no luck.

We are going through it right now with our Peri.  Boxes are everywhere and while I was packing Saturday, she followed me everywhere, would sniff the boxes, etc...

My sister has moved 3x with her dog and said that they will freak out until they see you put THEIR stuff out and with the other boxes.  IT's like they know they are coming with you?

We moved with our old Lab in 2004. In our situation, as we were moving we left her at the old house. Once we were completely in the new house, since I still worked at the time, I had my mother come stay with us, to make the transition a little easier for Hershey. She had someone with her while she got used to the new house and adjusted within a couple of weeks. Good luck!

We have moved once since we had Darwin. It was an adjustment for him, but we made sure to give him lots of attention, take him on a tour of the new area, etc. He was confused for a while but he settled in well within 2 weeks. Just give her time!

We have moved three times since we have gotten our Doodles.  It is just as difficult for them as it is for us humans!  We read in one of the training books, that when you move, that it's important to take your dogs for a three hour walk the day of the move.  WOW, try and do that after us humans are so exhausted with the whole moving process,  We looked like we went through the mill every time we moved (not pretty)!  Well, we think we probably had some set backs with our Doodles (behavior issues) with all of the moves we made and sometimes life is not as easy as we planned.  But, once you are settled, if you are happy, then they are happy!!!!  If at all possible, it is recommended that your dooodles get a ton of execise the day of the move.  Best of Luck to you in your new endeavor!  We will bet that your Doodle will support and love you through any life change!!!!!!!!  That's what Doodles are all about!
