I am picking up my first foster doodle (through IDOG) tomorrow morning in Athens, GA. I am beside myself with excitement! His name is Wilbur and he's a beautiful chocolate dood (at least I think he will be, once he's had a good bath!).

Of course, this could be a disaster, but I'm just really excited!

Frannie, it isn't everyone who actually has the opportunity to save a life. Athens is a high kill shelter. He couldn't have been rescued if there was no foster home for him to go to.
"He who saves one life will be credited with having saved the world."
Or in this case, she who saves one life...
Thank you.

Congrats Frannie. My goodness, he looks a lot like Harlow when I let her get too fuzzy. I bet he is going to be a lovely chocolate once he is clipped.

Unless your plan is to maybe keep him if he works out, the best piece of advice that I heard to help get through the process is to "never, ever, from now forward, think of him as YOUR dog ..... think of him as someone you are helping". I'll let you know in a week and a half if that works or not. Having been doing my first foster for a week today, I know the excitement that you are feeling. I also know just a little about the frustration that you will be feeling this time tomorrow probably. But, I think that each day will get better and it will all work out. I think my biggest surprise is that Lucy and Sophie didn't just love having him here to play with. They have been somewhat indifferent. They hardest part of the process for me so far is that I feel like they are sad and confused and don't know what is going on. That breaks my heart. Just be prepared. My little guy has jumped over all my baby gates that Lucy and Sophie have never even considered jumping. He is so different than they are/were so it has been an interesting week. Good luck, keep us posted. Love his name and he is gorgeous.

Maybe you could book an appointment at the Lucy and Sophie Salon they seem to be looking for customers to try out that new tub. I wouldn't recommend Rosco's groomer though. Looking forward to hearing all about the adventures of Callie and Wilbur.
