I feel like I’m never satisfied! By mid January I’m fantasizing about July, the sun, tank tops and flip flops. Today, I’m dreaming of a “White Christmas” – go figure…
Temperatures in this region are relentless. For the past several days now we’ve been knocking previous temperature records out of the proverbial park! This is what’s become our “new normal”…
Because of the constant rise in barometric pressure, our walks and outings take place in the early mornings and late afternoons. We travel with back packs, really cool portable water bowls, andDH’s primary mission is to “seek” and “secure” areas with plenty of shade…
This never ending heatwave has also inspired me to teach Leo a new command – “hot.” I want him to understand this word means no barking AND no temper tantrums when we choose/decide“not” to throw “Wilson”…
…let’s just say, it’s a new command and we’re still working on it…
Even though we as pet parents do our doodle best to protect our furry four legged family members, they can still become ill from all this heat despite our efforts. It’s our job to know the signs…
Harley is a little under the weather today, a little tummy thing going on. Not really sure what the cause, but I’m sure the weather plays a significant role. I will keep him on house arrest, give him plenty of liquids, and have him dine on a bland diet of boiled spaghetti noodles and ground chicken (neither of the two will eat rice). This should take care of what’s going on “behind the scenes” and tomorrow I’m sure he’ll be good as new!…
TRUE STORIES: While sitting at my desk writing this post, my pawputer “dinged” and I saw an email from Tammy, our anipal at The Uncommon Dog. She was reaching out to ask if I would share this infographic they’ve created on dog safety during these hot months. I thought pawfect timing!…
Hope you have a doodle*licious day unlike any other – thanks for reading, WOOF!

Thanks for sharing this info, Cathy and I hope Harley feels better soon. Finnegan does not do well with the heat either. When it gets over 80, he stresses out. Even early morning and evening were too hot to walk. I'm going to try Donna's trick today.
That's our weather every summer, nothing out of the ordinary for us.
And please, PLEASE tell me that Camaro behind Leo isn't yours or I will cry like a baby and throw a temper tantrum the likes of which you have never seen.
We're in the middle of a heat wave here and it was 111 humidity yesterday! Welcome to Canada ;)
9 AM today it already feels like 91 degrees. I am staying in my air conditioned house!
Lately Luna only gets an early morning walk since it's so hot out - both of us would overheat and she would burn her paws!
We normally don't get temps this high but yesterday we did. It was 108 degrees on our patio, I don't know how anyone can cope with that. Our temp at this time of year is usually in the low to mid 70's. We are lucky in that we have a pond nearby that is perfect for swimming and that's what we did. Quincy doesn't cope well with warm temps and anything over 65 and he's too warm. I usually take him to the pond for a dip before our walks and the wet coat works like his very own air conditioner and by the time we get home he is mostly dry. It does mean a lot of extra brushing but it's worth it.
Yes, heat can really be hard on our Doodles and we should all be aware of the dangers! The chart is a good reminder of things to help our babies! Thanks Cathy and I hope Harley feels better soon! I like the idea of the "hot" command! Your pictures are great!
