I am so frustrated. We went through a terrible time with Giardia about 6 weeks ago, and I'm thinking it's starting all over again. He had loose stools yesterday so I brought in a stool sample to the vet. During the middle of the night he started with really bad diarrhea which has continued all morning. He's now also throwing up the yellow bile. I have a vet appointment this afternoon, but I'm pretty sure the giardia is back. I have been so careful with him. He hasn't been to the dog pen and we watch him like a hawk so that he doesn't drink any standing water. I cleaned and disinfected everything, and had the carpets steam cleaned. He is so miserable, just laying on his bed. The diarrhea comes on so fast he isn't making it outside...thank God for Nature's Miracle. This is just so upsetting - I feel awful for him.

Oh Jane, I know you and Guiness have suffered through his Giardia more than enough already. Hopefully it's something else (minor) this time. Let us know what you find out and I hope he feels better very soon. Ringo's been "quarantined" this week while we're treating him for conjunctivitis but he's lucky that he feels fine, just misses his social life.

Thanks, everyone for your support. I'm just back from the vet and Guinness does not have Giardia. The problem is we don't know exactly what he does have. The vet said it could be Irritable Bowel Syndrome. She did blood work and is ordering a diarrhea panel which will rule out any type of bacteria or parasite. He was dehydrated, so he had an IV while we were there. He's on an antibiotic, an anti nausea med, and a diet of boiled chicken rice. She is going to call me Monday with the results of all the tests and we'll go from there. She told me to take away any toy that he could chew (even it it's just small pieces or even threads) and he has to be watched closely outside to be sure he doesn't eat any acorns, twigs, etc. If it is Irritable Bowel Syndrome that will cause it to flare up. We have been only leash walking him since the giardia, so that's not a problem. My poor little Dood...he was a total angel through all of this at the vet.

I'm so sorry to hear that Guinness is having problems again. Giardia can be so frustrating & difficult to resolve.
I really hope you get some answers from the vet and a treatment to help Guinness feel better quickly! It's awful for either of you to be feeling bad, especially tomorrow on our mutual birthday, lol!
Guinness, get well so you can help Mommy celebrate tomorrow!

Poor Guinness...keep us posted on what the vet says. Is there any chance he ate something that is causing any of this?
