Earlier this month, DH and I went on a holiday in Tokyo, Japan. We're very lucky to be there at the right time to see the gorgeous sakura (cherry blossoms) which only happens for 1 week out of the year.
It was also the first time we travelled overseas since Chewie arrived a year ago. I missed him terribly, so naturally I bought him lots of gifts from Japan ^^
First gift is a "yukata" or a japanese outfit worn during festivals. This one's made specifically for dogs (in case you're wondering it's for kids). I think Chewie looks sooo cute wearing it.
Second gift is a set of vegetable-shaped squeaky toys.
DH's worried that Chewie will be "spoilt" if I give him the 3 toys all at once, so I have to ration the vegetables. (sigh) He's on the tomato right now, but considering the short lifespan of previous plush toys under Chewie, I think we will move on to carrot within a month or so.
While we're away, my mother came over to stay at our place to dog/house-sit. When we came back, she had wrote a 6-page journal with EVERY SINGLE DETAIL about Chewie's activity over the 4-5 days that we're away.
What time he woke up, ate, pee/poop and slept each day (even the times he woke her up in the middle of the night); How many times he barked at strange noises; How he ate his meals (enthusiastically or a bit hesitant/bored); Even the size and consistency of his poop!!
For those of you who're wondering what's that green thing stuck to one of the pages is...it's a piece of foam from my mom's slippers which Chewie chewed on (and ate part of) when my mom wasn't looking. My mom kept a sample so that I know what he 'ate'. Yes, I got quite a laugh from reading the journal!

Love this blog. You mom sounds like someone who I would like to leave my dog with! Your pictures are gorgeous and Chewie looks so cheerful in his get-up.
Kimmie I just love reading your blogs. I lived in Japan for a year, that was 10 years ago now. It was one of the best times of my life. I loved the hanami and hanabi festivals the most. I have a yukata too! how cute that you got one for Chewie. Your mom is awesome with that journal. What a great grandma she is for Chewie!
Your sweet mother can come to dog-sit for me anytime! How wonderful! Chewie looks adorable in his yukata!
oh I love the journal!!!!
What lovely presents. Your mom sounds like the most caring sitter ever. What a journal!
Great post, Kimmie! I love your mom's Chewie diary. And something tells me that tomato isn't going to be smiling for long!
