Glad we aren't the only ones......

Just joined DK yesterday and have spent most of the morning reading blogs and comments.  My husband will be so relieved to hear that we are not the only people who are crazy about our doodle.  My husband a CONFIRMED  "I live can with them or without of them....it doesn't matter to me....." shocked me a couple of weeks ago.  When we first got Kahlua he said that she was NOT allowed in bed with us.  I must admit that I was okay with that rule, especially as she tips the scale at 95 lbs.  On the night of the 4th Kahlua was very agitated by the fireworks.   When we got up to go to bed she still wasn't quite herself, so I stayed downstairs with her.  When I thought the fireworks were over I said goodnight and went upstairs.  To my shock, about 5 minutes later I hear a "sound" outside my bedroom door, it was Kahula, she had opened the fence downstairs.  I took her back, thinking that I didn't close the latch well.  Five minutes after getting back into bed, there she is again!  So I took her back downstairs, hid in the hallway to watch and see what she would do.  Then I saw it!  She used her paw to tap on the latch until it opened.  Then went upstairs.  I woke my husband up and told him what she had done.  Then for the next shocker!  He said, she doesn't like the fireworks, she can sleep here tonight!  Really?????  So he taps the bed and says come, she jumps right up on the bed, spreads out (and I mean spreads out) on my side of the bed and acutally looked at me as if saying....."Where are you going to sleep?".

My husband fought getting a new puppy and ONLY wanted a german shepard....Well let me tell ya...he's in love with "my girlie dog" LOL

Welcome! This is a fun site and you'll be amazed at how much you will learn about doodles and being a doodle owner. How old is Kahula? So much for fencing her in anymore Huh?  As for sleeping in bed with her, I bet you will be joining us soon in stories of how you slept on 4 inches of your mattress all night so you don't disturb her while she takes up most of the bed. I am always amazed at how mine just go to the foot of the bed and wrap up in a ball right between us. My two together weight about 125 pds, but luckily they take turns sleeping in bed with us. Murphy always has since he was a pup, and Bella was always welcomed but chose the floor. We have gotten so used to a dog in the bed that it feels very empty when they both leave to go sleep on the tiles.

Funny what you can get used to.

hahaha, boy have you opened up a can of worms!!! Is she in bed with you every night now? Lola's in there with us (well, ON me) every night, and we wouldn't change it for the world. It's a great bonding experience to sleep with them every night! Just hope you have a king size bed!! LOL

First, welcome to DK!  No, you are not alone.  I think we all drink the same koolaid!  Some of us are very proud to claim we are OCDM (obsessive compulsive doodle moms).  That is a great story.  Amazing how smart Doodles are and how well they can twist us around their little paw!  Rua is only 17lbs and I am glad we have a king size bed.

Ha ha ha ...these doodles are amazing. My DH never ceases to amaze me with Daisy, he just like yours, loves Daisy and is manly enough to admit it. It is part of my joy to watch it.

SO SO FUNNY-I hope you knew how smart doodles were when you got her??? Amazing that she figured that one out-how can you not let her sleep with you? Oh the 95lbs could be an issue at times we have 2 minis sleeping with us.
