Last night after I got home from work, my niece Becky and I took Malibu to our community park where we usually use the chuck it and throw tennis ball's for her. She is a little ball obsessed, (Mali, not Becky) so we changed things up and went to the kiddie area and tried to teach her to go down slides. Mind you this is 8:30 at night and a little dark. When Mali was about a year old, she wasn't interested in the slides. But last night, she ran up stairs, went through tubes, went down open slides. She would fetch her ball, come back up to the platforms, I would tell her to "drop it" and she'd dump the ball down the slide and happily go down after it. Then she realized she could play by herself and fetch the ball and drop it down, slide down and repeat. We even got her to go down some curved, covered slides too. I can't wait to do this during day light and capture some pictures of this.
She did a similar thing when we went to another friends house to go swimming. When we had enough of throwing the ball in for her, she would fetch it herself, run to the other side of the pool, drop the ball in, go to the opposite end of the pool, jump in swim and fetch the ball herself. Then repeated the process a few dozen more times. It's amazing how they "teach themselves" To say I'm a proud doodle owner is an understatement.

Happy birthday to Malibu tomorrow. I hope she is going to have a fun 2nd birthday. Nikkie may get to go play at the park if it isn't too rainy.

It was great meeting you and Malibu. I hope you're all okay. Nikki has been having fun romping and playing at the park with Kona. I'll have to try Nikki on a slide. I think she might enjoy it.

LOL! My DH just took a video of Mater playing at the park and going down the slides! He LOVES it! I'll see if I can post it to my page. I haven't figured out how to load more than one video - maybe today is the day! Mali cracks me up - do you think all of them are as goofy as ours? (I have a feeling they are!). BTW - I used to have a cocker spaniel that I showed & trained! Like minds.....

ohhhh poor Rosco. That poor guy, good thing you didn't do it at night, he might have pee'd on the slide. lol. Sorry, but I read the trials and tribulations of his nighttime water inhalation sessions and the journey you've been on. I'm hoping that the tuna trick is still working. My other dog Charlie is a 15 year old cocker who has congestive heart disease and is on lasix. Sooo imagine a half blind/catarack dog trying to make out the doggie door in time... not too successful. So we've got major puppy pads down by the door too. So I can empathasize with you too. But please no worries about Charlie, he is agile when it comes to food, and can go running into the kitchen to find the food source, and has a happy life sleeping and eating and meandering around the house. I'll put some of his pic's up to to include the whole family.

Sounds like she had a blast creating her own game! what a sweetie she is --I love your stories :-)

My poor Rosco, I traumatized him on the slide when he was a puppy and felt so terrible. I thought it would be fun to go down the slide with him but instead he freaked out and jumped off and got a Charly horse or something and I thought I broke my puppy and felt guilty for probably a week later ( even though he was fine within a few minutes).
