Today we said goodbye to a dear friend: our beloved border collie, Cass.
Cass had been fighting a good fight but the bone tumors took over her body and quality of life. We were originally going to wait another week but Clark realized today was the day. She got her favorite meal of a cheeseburger and fries before we said goodbye. We buried her along with Thule's ashes this evening.
Cass joined Clark's life nearly 15 years ago and had been a most loyal and devoted friend. She was the dog that turned me into a dog lover and helped me see that keeping a dog indoors was not insane, but the best way to keep a dog.
We were truly blessed by having had Cass in our lives.
So sorry to hear about dear Cass. She was a lucky girl to have been loved by both of you. As well, you were lucky to have known and been loved by her. Now she and Thule can romp and play together!! Pats and hugs to Adina, Clark, Natalie and Rosco.
I am very sorry to hear of your loss. When our furbabies come to us they look to us for everything, as the years pass and our hearts weave we often look back and realize how much we came to depend on them. There will never be one to walk in Cass's paw prints however I always have hope that many happy chapters can be added to the story that has already begun unfolding. The heart is a very flexible muscle capable of making more room to love!
Thank you for so generously sharing Cass with all of us ~ past, present and future. Hugs ~ Dianne Carter
Clark and Adina, you are both in my thoughts today. I have only once had to put a dog to sleep, but he was my first and we were together for 16 years. It has been 6 years since then, but it still makes me cry thinking of it. I am truly sorry for your loss, but Cass will be in your heart and memories forever. I have always believed you can never replace that space in your heart that your beloved dogs take up, the next one just makes your heart grow bigger.
Adina, I am so sorry for your family's loss, especially dear Rosco, who must be so confused by both of his buddies disappearing on him. He probably just got use to Thule being gone, and now he has to adapt to not having Cass around. I'm sure this must be so incredibly tough on all of you. I will keep you all, including Rosco, in my thoughts and prayers.
