Some of you may already know that Charlie has been a very reactive girl ever since she was a little puppy. We had gone through years of obedience training with her but she continue to be very fearful and reactive towards anyone, anything and any dogs she does not know what or who it is.
She had an injury in the beginning of the summer, and I began taking her to this holistic vet about an hour away for this injury. The doctor was wonderful, and we began discussing about her reactiveness as well. As a result, I put her on medication for anxiety. Today, we re-visited the doctor for her injury, and while waiting in the exam room, one of the vet assistant brought in a clean bath towel for her so the she can lay on it rather than laying on the cold floor. I thought it was nice of her to do that. Charlie did great with the doctor and with the new assistant she never met before. She allowed the new assistant to hold her, and even gave the doctor some kisses. ( We had to muzzled her before since she did not know them, was in pain and growled at them)
After everything was done, the doctor told me that the assistant had sprayed the towel with D.A.P!! ( Dog Appeasing Pheromone ) I remember this assistant saw me keep her away from other people in the waiting room.
She has been on the medication for a little over a month, and this is the 4th visit to this vet, so she could have been comfortable without this little support. But, this small gesture to make her visit as comfortable and pleasant as possible touched me....

That is a lovely story you are truly a wonderful doodle mom and it's good that Charlie is doing so well. I like the towel idea too. I bring baby wipes everywhere and clean paws thoroughly the minute we leave the Vets and also when we are out of Day Care.
As you probably know I am a great advocate of medication for anxiety if needed. What medication is Charlie on?
Sounds like you have a found a very caring vet. Good luck!
Loving this good news story. Your devoted care for Charlie is an example to all.
Kyoko ~ Sounds like you found a great vet. I am with everyone else on the floor at the vet and so many times I see an assistant give a dog a treat (which quickly falls to floor) and the dog is then eating it off the floor! It drives me crazy! I will not let them give either of my boys treats! Yuck!
So happy for you and Charlie!
This is so nice to read, happy for you and Charlie.
I'm so happy for Charlie and you with the change and what a difference in makes for both of you! Can you only imagine how nice if must be for Charlie now without so much anxiety. I agree with Joanne, the floor of the vet's office drives me crazy and I want to just pick up Libby and not let her touch the floor. I know that sounds crazy, but it is me!
