This past weekend, we went to the CanAm flyball tournament in Indianapolis. It's the largest tournament in the US each year. They broke the world record for the most participants on Sunday, with 810 dogs! Halas and I were there Friday and Saturday, but we had to miss Sunday. Halas had been doing really well in tournaments lately, but those have all been with only one ring (one race) running. When we went to a tournament with 2 rings earlier in the year, Halas was pretty overwhelmed, and he didn't do that well. CanAm was running 5 rings on Friday and 6 rings on Saturday, so we really didn't know what to expect. But we didn't need to worry about him at all. He did just great! He ran in 3 of our 4 races on Friday and 3 of 4 on Saturday. I think he only made a couple of mistakes, and I made a couple of mistakes by sending him too early, but those were no big deal. We borrowed a dog, too, and Halas had to run right after the new dog, which means he was running full speed past a strange dog, and he didn't even hesitate. That's really great, because a lot of dogs won't do that. So, once again, I was really proud of him. He was tired near the end of Saturday, but he still ran really well. And every time I got him out of his kennel, he pulled hard towards the rings, because he knew that it meant he would get to run.
We also saw 4 other doodles there! One mini (the same mini we saw at an earlier tournament), one Jackdoodle look-a-like, one black with a little brown mixed in, and one phantom. I didn't get to confirm with the owner that the phantom was a doodle, but he sure looked like one.
We also had someone take some video of one of our races. It wasn't on my camera, so I have to wait for it to be posted. It will probably be awhile, because the person posting it is going to be traveling for the next week or so. But I'll post them as soon as I get my hands on them.
