Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I have joined the ranks of the DKers whose Doodles have short and snappy hair cuts.
It wasn't the plan when we took Chester to the groomers. I knew he had a few mats and his feet were quite sensitive (allergies and infection) so he wouldn't allow me to get near the mats near his paws. I had scissored a few of them out. ( I feel pretty bad that they were worse then I thought). I had been madly brushing him regularly but then I went away for a few days and it really got away from me : ( .
So we had to shear Chester it was quite drastic change and We are now getting used to it. I was mostly afraid that the neighbours wouldn't give him as much attention. They kept telling me not to do it. Chester loves the attention he gets from others and the Number of people We have met as a result of having the fuzz ball is incredible- Both as we are out more and because we have such a different looking dog.
So 3 Lbs of hair have been trimmed. He is 1/4 " buzzed. We have a sleek new look. Chester seems happier, friskier and he is spending more time on the couch and bed and less on the cool floor- so that Makes us happy too.
The lady who runs the Pet food Store had a great analogy for the spring groom- It is like their Halloween costume has come off and the real dog has emerged.

This is a great Spring/Summer cut. Though I love the shaggy look just think how much happier Chester is now, cool and comfortable.
We now keep Daisy cut this way (well a little longer) March through Oct.
You got a great cut! Look at all that hair - you could knit a new doodle!
Chester is a very handsome doodle, long or short!
Funny- we are noticing that he is panting less. Which is good.He is very velvety.
He is adorable.Just like a plush toy.It won't be long before he has curls again.Sadie will soon get her "summer cut"
He is so adorable! I truly love them at all lengths. I just bit the bullet and started shaving my two myself, I really love the blade that leaves them 3/4 inches long, it leaves a little fluff yet :)
I think he looks great, and I'm sure he'll be really comfortable over the Summer.
He looks very Cute & Velvety.
I always wondered how much a hair trimming would weigh, thanks for that info.
I think Chester looks adorable in both pictures and I bet he feels so much better.
Short or long, Chester's a cutie!!! I know first hand the shock of that first short cut. When Sedona had her first "buzz cut", she looked like a completely different dog - but within a day or so I got used to it, then began to love it! Now we keep her short year round.
