Saturday was Snickers 2nd Birthday, we spent time at the dog park and mom made him homemade Bow Wow Brownies. I was fortunate enough to take a dog cookie cooking class earlier this year and this is definitely one of Snickers favorite treats so it made sense to make them for his birthday.
Here is Snickers enjoying his birthday brownie
Here is what the Bow Wow Brownies look like
I thought some of you may be interested in the recipe. As my husband said they look good enough to eat-and humans can eat them but they are a bit dry (LOL)
Ingredients for Brownies
Vegetable cooking spray
1/2 C canola oil
2 Tbsps honey
4 eggs lightly beaten
1 tsp vanilla paste or extract
1/4 C Carob Powder
1 C whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 C carob chips
Icing:
12 ounces fat free cream cheese softened
1 tsp honey
1 tsp vanilla paste or extract
For the brownies: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly spray the inside of 8x8 inch baking dish. and line with parchment paper
In a medium bowl mix together the oil, honey, eggs and vanilla with a wooden spoon Add the carob powder and stir to combine
In a small bowl whisk together the flour and baking powder add to the wet ingredients add the carob chips and stir to distribute evenly
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, Bake for about 25-30 Min or until the brownies just begin to pull from the sides and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a just a few crumbs. Place pan on wire rack to cool
For the icing: With a whisk or hand held mixer beat the cream cheese, honey and vanilla until light and fluffy, spread over cooled brownies,
Makes 2 dozen large or 3 dozen small brownies, can be put in the freezer if wrapped appropriately otherwise should be refrigerated
Hope your Doods enjoy!
