Today is Murphy's anniversary....one year ago his DRC fairy godmothers helped him to find us.  I will never forget seeing him for the first time....he had me with that first "kiss".  I really fell in love with him on the ride home from New Jersey.  I sat in the backseat with the two boys, and they just cuddled up and slept the whole way.  Murph was a very confident, "full of himself" puppy, but he also had a vulnerable side.  He's still like that.  He's been much more of a challenge to "raise" than his brother, but that's okay.  I just wanted a dog....I never asked for perfect.  After Guinness, I knew that I wanted our second dog to be a rescue.  I didn't even care if it was a Doodle...I just wanted to find a dog who needed our family.  We tried to rescue another dog locally, but it didn't work out.  That's when I heard that DRC had Murph, who had to be rehomed because his first Mom had allergies.  He was meant to be with me...there is no doubt in my mind about that.  I sit here typing this, and I have so much gratitude for the work that DRC is doing.  Rescuing dogs is not for the faint of heart.  It's hard work and it is full of heartbreak.  Sure there are many happy endings....I think Murph is definitely a happy ending, but there are also so many tragic cases.  Seeing these dogs coming out of shelters, abused and sick day after day takes a toll....yet the committed DRC volunteers keep doing it, always with a spirit of hope.  I have been involved with DRC as my way of "paying it forward" for the indescribable gift that they gave me...Murph.  I see first hand what goes into the work of saving dogs, and I have developed such respect for those who have made this cause their life.  So, thank you Murphy's Fairy Godmothers....we love you!  Here are some of Murphy's "baby pictures".  I think he was only a puppy like this for about a week....LOL

Happy Anniversary Murphy!  I can't imagine you without your two Irish boys and it is so hard to imagine big ol' Murphy as a tiny fluffball puppy but there he is.  DRC couldn't have put together a more perfect match - you are exactly what Murph needs and he is what you need - after all, what you be doing with your time if you didn't have some training challenges thrown into your life? LOL

Happy anniversary Murph! I know it seems like puppyhood is only a week long but its much longer than that that molds their lives and traing them not to pee in the house (hahahahahahahah). He was so cute and is so cute. We all know you will alwas think of  him as baby Murph.

I remember when you were trying to rescue Izzy (I think) and did not get her and then shortly after that we saw that you got Murphy. I guess the right dog found you :) Those Irish Brothers belong together and with you. Happy Anniversary!!

So adorable, and I can't imagine one without the other - a complete family.
