Today is Murphy's anniversary....one year ago his DRC fairy godmothers helped him to find us.  I will never forget seeing him for the first time....he had me with that first "kiss".  I really fell in love with him on the ride home from New Jersey.  I sat in the backseat with the two boys, and they just cuddled up and slept the whole way.  Murph was a very confident, "full of himself" puppy, but he also had a vulnerable side.  He's still like that.  He's been much more of a challenge to "raise" than his brother, but that's okay.  I just wanted a dog....I never asked for perfect.  After Guinness, I knew that I wanted our second dog to be a rescue.  I didn't even care if it was a Doodle...I just wanted to find a dog who needed our family.  We tried to rescue another dog locally, but it didn't work out.  That's when I heard that DRC had Murph, who had to be rehomed because his first Mom had allergies.  He was meant to be with me...there is no doubt in my mind about that.  I sit here typing this, and I have so much gratitude for the work that DRC is doing.  Rescuing dogs is not for the faint of heart.  It's hard work and it is full of heartbreak.  Sure there are many happy endings....I think Murph is definitely a happy ending, but there are also so many tragic cases.  Seeing these dogs coming out of shelters, abused and sick day after day takes a toll....yet the committed DRC volunteers keep doing it, always with a spirit of hope.  I have been involved with DRC as my way of "paying it forward" for the indescribable gift that they gave me...Murph.  I see first hand what goes into the work of saving dogs, and I have developed such respect for those who have made this cause their life.  So, thank you Murphy's Fairy Godmothers....we love you!  Here are some of Murphy's "baby pictures".  I think he was only a puppy like this for about a week....LOL

Thanks everyone.  We've had a fun Anniversary.  We took the boys out for burgers and then to get some new squeaky toys and antlers.  They're happy guys right now!  Oh, and I noticed that it looked like I "liked" my own blog....WTD!  I'm not too sure how that happened, but please know I'm not that "clueless".

Happy anniversary Jane! I remember the day you brought him home - you got so lucky with Murphy!  I know you have had so much going on recently with both doods health-wise and I am pretty sure the DRC made a PERFECT placement when they gave you Murphy.  Lucky dood to have you as him mama.

I get such a big smile looking back at the photos.  I remember it all like it was yesterday.  The let down of the little girl rescue that didn't happen and then Murphy!  I can't believe he was that small and Guinness looks so big...the big brother for sure.  Then as Murphy grew Guinness got smaller and smaller.  I love the two Irish Brothers!  They are very special Doodles.  I just wish I lived closer so I could meet them and hug them in person.  Congratulations to you and Murph for all the love you give to each other!!!!

What a great job DRC does--example being getting Big Murph to you--a match made in heaven/DRC-land.  He was such an adorable little guy--both the Irish boys are adorable.
