Today is Murphy's anniversary....one year ago his DRC fairy godmothers helped him to find us.  I will never forget seeing him for the first time....he had me with that first "kiss".  I really fell in love with him on the ride home from New Jersey.  I sat in the backseat with the two boys, and they just cuddled up and slept the whole way.  Murph was a very confident, "full of himself" puppy, but he also had a vulnerable side.  He's still like that.  He's been much more of a challenge to "raise" than his brother, but that's okay.  I just wanted a dog....I never asked for perfect.  After Guinness, I knew that I wanted our second dog to be a rescue.  I didn't even care if it was a Doodle...I just wanted to find a dog who needed our family.  We tried to rescue another dog locally, but it didn't work out.  That's when I heard that DRC had Murph, who had to be rehomed because his first Mom had allergies.  He was meant to be with me...there is no doubt in my mind about that.  I sit here typing this, and I have so much gratitude for the work that DRC is doing.  Rescuing dogs is not for the faint of heart.  It's hard work and it is full of heartbreak.  Sure there are many happy endings....I think Murph is definitely a happy ending, but there are also so many tragic cases.  Seeing these dogs coming out of shelters, abused and sick day after day takes a toll....yet the committed DRC volunteers keep doing it, always with a spirit of hope.  I have been involved with DRC as my way of "paying it forward" for the indescribable gift that they gave me...Murph.  I see first hand what goes into the work of saving dogs, and I have developed such respect for those who have made this cause their life.  So, thank you Murphy's Fairy Godmothers....we love you!  Here are some of Murphy's "baby pictures".  I think he was only a puppy like this for about a week....LOL

Congratulations!   We share the same anniversary.  Same week anyway.  We were also in NJ on March 4th picking up Starlit.  While we were there arrangements were being made to pick up the " Puppy"  (aka Murphy) the next day to bring him into the DRC program.    You were there just two days after us.  I was so tired on that long 38 hour trip I wish I could have stayed longer.   It is a YEAR!  YIPPIE!

Jane - You've "paid it forward" in a wonderful way.   Congrats on your first year! (Banjo's 1st yr was yesterday! I didn't realize how close we were in getting our pups!)     I just love the pic of the 3 of you....you are ALL so adorable!
