A year ago today we drove 3 hours to pick up Boca who had traveled even further from Texas to join our family. She was about 16 weeks then and is about 16 months now and has been a great little doodette. Her history is documented in these blogs from last year.
This is my first sight of her last year in the arms of a fellow DK'er who'd picked her up from the airport for us and drove her a couple hours closer to us:
She was just a little 20 lb pup who made me worried she'd never really grow to be the big dog size we LOVE. But yesterday at her annual vet visit she weighed in about 53 lbs! So she's grown plenty (not that we'd like her less if she had not) and is a busy busy girl who loves attention, being outside and FETCH. We've had to talk to her over and over about the fact she's an inside dog and how that's a good thing but she doesn't buy that yet--especially when there are balls to fetch and yards to maintain outside.
She's also done fabulously with training and I couldn't be happier with how well she does on leash. Just a week or two ago we got brave and entered the dog park (leashed for training) and she held excellent stays while a few dogs came up and sniffed her. She is developing excellent self-control on leash, and hopefully when I get time we will progress to excellent self control off leash too.
Some pics just taken today:
Somewhat proud of her dug hole on the right =)
Holding a stand stay beautifully so her annoying mom can take MORE pictures :-D
Too bad I didn't think to position Rosco right next to her for size comparison.
Thanks DRC for saving this sweet girl and letting us adopt her!

Boca, Boca, Boca! What a great part of our family you have become! We are so blessed that the Doodle Rescue Collective saved your skinny butt and we were able to give you a forever home. Now if we could just improve on the hole digging and firewood de-stacking you'd be perfect. But what fun would that be?
I am obviously biased but I think Boca has the perfect doodle profile. Perfect dry beard, nice expressive eyebrows, and just the right amount of Lyle Lovett unruly hair on top of your head (mommy clearly slicked your hair back for these 'formal' pictures). And no clipping required!
Here's to many more years of Doodle fun!
