You guys are so awesome, funny and wonderfully supportive!  I guess we need to try the poop in the hole and at least give it a shot.  I do think she will ultimately outgrow it, but it does support the terrier theory that both Karen and my vet shared.  Here coloring is lightening up to a pale grey just like a Schnauzer as well.  One day we'll do a DNA and see what she is, just for fun.  I just hope DH comes around.  I ordered one of those tree house bark stoppers and will try that too.  I guess it is a sonic beep they get when they bark.  Mater is a talker these days, so maybe he's to blame!  Wouldn't DH love that !! Ha Ha!

I'll keep you all posted.  Pippin was a chewer (on the stairs, the chairs etc,) and he has stopped that, so we know there is hope!

Sadie had a short lived digging phase when she was a puppy.Wanted to bury her chew bones and then retrieve them later.

It was over in short order Just by reminding her that it was a NO.

I just remembered that Neely also was obsessed with a part of the lawn when he was little and it was the bugs coming alive in the spring! Those little underground creatures are very interesting to a new puppy as well. I think that once they become well socialized they don't get as excited about new things as much and react so wildly enthusiastically! But that is also the sad thing that puppies do grow up and fast so we have to enjoy them while they are puppies. The more involved your husband is the more he will fall in love and connect. My husband didn't want another dog. Yah right! Now he talks to the dog more than me!

I wish I had an answer to give you about digging.  My digging doodle happens to be in the "naughty room" (laundry room) right now.  We have lots of mole/vole tunnels all around the back yard and ever since he caught one he has been on the prowl digging.  The funny thing is he was scared to death of it....I guess he got over it.  My yard is starting to look like the movie "Holes":o(

The filling the holes with dog poop stopped the digging in my yard. Plus it gave me somewhere to put it :-) Good luck to you!

Good luck with the digging and the barking - the electronic birdhouse didn't work for us, but perhaps it will for your situation.
