Have You Ever Wondered About My Foster Lacey?

Many of you have asked recently if I have ever heard from Lacey? Is she doing okay? Do I ever hear from her?

Last October she was seen tied to a tree for several days at an abandon house in a bad part of town.

The little girl I named Lacey in the parking lot of the dog pound back in October because her hair was so pretty and her eyes were so brittle and sad. The crouched down dog who I thought was a medium because she could not stand up straight. I sat out there with her because they would not let me take her home but I could not take her back into that hell pit. When she was finally adopted out she weighed only 34lbs. Her first adoptive parents called me Thanksgiving weekend to tell me they were putting her to sleep on Monday because she had no will to live--she refused to eat and refused human contact.

A puppy mill survivor this is how she was treated so someone could make a lot of money. Her feet had never touched the ground and she had never been out of a crate. She had no idea how to live. None!

Many of you know her story but I have included the links just in case.

There are 12 pages of information if you just type in the word " Lace"

Here is to ALL OF YOU! All of you who helped and followed this case. Please share with me this wonderful story. To her adoptive parents who work so hard with her issues. They are the best, most patient family she could ever ask for. Just look what they've done.

She lives in the mountains with trails to hike, lakes to swim, and beautiful music she hears from her parents-- musicians, she thrives. A special thanks to Bernie her new big bossy brother ( who only weighs 5lbs) who taught her to be a dog. The best family ever--she is now weighing in at 50lbs

NOW A NEW NAME WITH A BEAUTIFUL NEW LIFE

MEET SOPHIE. A True Cinderella Story.

If pictures are a thousand words than this is all I need to post here.

With her mentor, Bernie, she now feels safe in a crate :) ( I was told he has no idea he is only 5lbs. He thinks he is huge and he acts like this too! lol Don't they look a like? LOL

Thank You for helping me, help her.

UPDATE: On another note
This was so poorly written. I am doing things super fast these days but I was getting so many requests for an update.
Thank you all for your kind words to me in this post. I really only deserve a part of them.

I really want to emphasize the work this family is doing with this dog. She still has many issues to overcome. It has only been 4.5 months since I met this brittle girl in the dog pound. These adopters convinced me they wanted to take on her challenges and they have--more than anyone could ever imagine. I really thought I could not offer her what she needed to continue. I got her just so far--just survival. They are taking her the rest of the way! And what a way she has come. Great Job. I love you Sarah, Brian, and Bernie.

In a Valentines Card I got from Lacey / Sophie she writes:
" This is a very special Valentines Day for me--it's all because I now understand the warm blessings of Love. Each of you played an important part in my journey and I hold you dear in my heart. Life is good for me now but I will always love you too"!

This is a family that truly wanted a rescue dog! Not for the low cost price or because it is the in thing to do. They had a lot of love to give --and we certainly see what that love is doing.

Your Right! That's it. I couldn't figure out what was different. I thought it was the hair. It's her eyes--they really do sparkle.

Sophie is almost as pretty as you, Joanne. What you did for her... oh my. You don't know how much you inspired me with your Lace posts.

What a wonderful story. I am so glad it isn't a fairy tail but a real live success story.
Thank you Joanne, Spud, and new family, but mostly thank you to Sophie for not giving up on life.

We ALL did this together! Thanks for the late night calls, so many emails, the advice........the advice........the thoughts. Just think, this was only 4 months ago.

Thanks to her new parents for wanting so much to take her as she was and bring her this far. They recently signed on to DK ( it's about time! ) and we can only hope we see more of Cinderella Sophie.

Completely in tears right now. I remember how very hard it was for you to get her to gain weight. She is one of the most beautiful doodles I have ever seen. She looks spoiled rotten and totally pampered. I love it.
Thanks for such an uplifting start to our weekends!

OMG Joanne ..... I have been thinking about her so much lately because I have reflected over the past 10 days about your foster experiences as compared to mine, and there is no way that I could have ever taken on the dogs that you did. You saved this girls life literally. I so hope the people that were going to put her to sleep see this link. It just takes a person with a special talent to get them to this point. She actually has light in her eyes (and not just from the camera). You can see it, she is alive and well. She is thriving, and she is beautiful ....... Sophie (gotta love that name, ha ha) is a true Cinderella princess! And you are right, they do look alike!
