We had our daughters doodle Marley for 4 days and that makes 3 doodles running around. Marley is almost 3 yrs old and about 80 pds, Murphy is 2 next week and 66 pds and Bella the baby is 5 months old and about 40 pds. They all play very well together, but there is a lot of wrestling and play biting going on all day. They all love to be around me when I'm home so I was having to watch where I walked constantly. It surprised me how much more commotion one more doodle in the house was.

Now that Marley went home today, just having two again seems so quiet and calm. It;s not that Marley is crazy busy all the time, it's just one less live body moving around seems like a lot now. I was still feeling before these 4 days that it was pretty hectic around here now that we've added Bella 2 months ago. But now I can see that it feels normal to have 2. I guess I've gotten used to my new normal finally.

Kathy, my DH was totally against my getting our first. Well, actually I thought of him as MY first as he said he wanted NOTHING to do with Murphy. Ha!  Well you know how long THAT lasted. When it came time to ask about a second one, I asked him and he didn;t even hesitate to say yes. Personally, if he really didn't want a second I would have been fine with that as I had my Murphy and he had come such a long way from the man who didn't want anything to do with him.

Keep trying Kathy, took me a while to get my hubby on board.  Perseverence pays off :)  Kona is our second dog and smaller than he really wanted, but she is the twinkle in his eye!!!!  He adores her and she treats him oh so special.....  You have a wonderful holiday too!

I LOVE having two.  But just what you wrote is what keeps me from getting one more :)

I feel the same way, and I know my Doods feel that way as well.  I don't think they could ever imagine not having each other to wrestle with.  Yesterday was pouring rain here...so no Doodle exercise.  They chased each other and played together all day.  It was great to just watch them.

I have this very same conversation every time one of our fosters leaves!  We always say "wow, it is so quiet".  That third one for us, in our particular house, just sort of puts it "over the top".  It's ok for a little while, but I wouldn't want to do it on a full time basis ..... as much as I would love a third doodle!

It is starting to feel more like I imagined. Murphy is a bit aloof and I wanted another to fill in the gap of when he goes off to his little dog-cave, wherever that might be for the moment. Under tables, in the hall, master bathroom.

Bella does stay closer to me and I really enjoy that. I think she's going to be my little velcro dog!

I can't imagine having two, but I think it would only take a couple of months of having a second dog for one to seem like an empty house. :-) What a fun 4 days that must have been!
