I met a family yesterday whose back yard backed onto a park we frequent. The mother peeked over the fence and asked if Gavin would be interested in playing with her 1 year old Newfoundland dog. Ahhhh, yaaaa! So she opened her gate and the two ran back and forth between their yard and the park. Her beautiful pup was chasing Gavin who was enjoying being in the lead for a change. Gavin dashed into the back yard, with Marley the Newf hot on his tail. Gavin decided to take a short cut across the yard to put more distance between himself and Marley. However, Gavin mistakenly thought that the solar blanket floating on top of the inground swimming pool was solid ground. He went across full speed and made it half way before the blanket gave way and into the water he went. Turns out he can swim a bit better than he has been letting on! The husband with lightening quick speed leaned out to the end of the diving board and grabbed Gavin with both hands by the scruff lifting all 67lbs of him to safety. Gavin, totally nonplussed shook himself and resumed the game. This time in the park!

It wasn't a mistake, he meant to do that. lol :)
DeeDee, yeh he was like a sinking ship lol. Tramatized? Not a chance. This is the same dog that I had to wake up at 10:30 this morning because I was ready for a walk. Even though he loves to play, to say he is laid back is an understatement.
Oh, this one gave me a good laugh!! LOL!! If only you had a video camera in hand at the time!! Priceless!!
He must have been having a wicked good time with that Newfie! And on top of it all he got a swimming lesson! A great day in the life of a doodle...
