I need to mention what happened last night while I was blogging.
Phoebe managed to abscond with three small bananas I had picked up from the market on the way home last night. She watched me place them on the counter. When I was out of site, she took them to her bed, consuming two and the skin of one. (I’m not sure, but I only found one peel.) Adorable, right?

I had a little anxiety going to work this morning. I did not sleep. Jess was given a sleep aide and managed to sleep on and off for a few hours. I was delighted to hear he felt somewhat rested, yet I still felt I needed to be up there with him and was anxious to get there.

Back to work. The kids were adorable today. Due to testing, I had about half of my classes, and that worked out well so I could look about the room and check what has been going on in my absence. I am blessed to have a great sub (Jesse’s spin buddy, Donna) that has made my absence easy one me. When my last class was also canceled I ran out to the parking lot and couldn’t wait to rush up to Mayo. (My picture may have been taken on the 101…)

Jess was sitting up when I arrived, holding court for Debbie, his step-mom, and son. Jess had been sitting for two hours after a session with O.T. and P.T. He was tired and ready to be transferred back to the bed. He said he felt good about the day’s progress. He obviously was feeling better as he enjoyed having visitors.

He had the nurse return my call for him about an hour ago. His “whisper” sounded stronger. When I mentioned it he said it felt better, yet he never complained about pain in his throat. All the nurses marvel about what an easy patient he is, and how sick he was and how amazing it is to see him awake and sitting.

I am really proud of Jess – I am proud of his fight and how he is taking all of this with tremendous dignity. He is an amazing man.

Phoebe is tired tonight. No bananas for her, it will be straight to bed.

Wow! What a wonderful day for everyone. Your positive energy is making a world of difference for Jess - I'm convinced of that. And are you sure Phoebe isn't part monkey? :-)

Great news! I am so glad Jess is in good spirits and doing well. Also glad you are starting to get back to your routine.
Most dogs love bananas, I don't think the skin will hurt too much either. Maybe our Miss Phoebe is part goat, lol! Hug her, and Jess of course, for Jackdoodle & me!

Glad to hear of the good day. My husband and I also teach. A good sub sure makes all the difference.
