Thank you for sharing the story.
We truly should not judge the people by their status and situations!.

These kind of people sicken me. There was a boy I went to school with in sixth grade who got sent to Juvenile Detention because he set a neighbor's dog on fire and watched it die. He was in sixth grade! It is horrifying to think of what he grew up to be.

I am confused about one thing. The family let their dog get away... and then someone else dumped him in a pit? Why would someone pick up a stray dog, only to dump him in an oil pit?

I guess I read too many stories like this that I didn't need a tissue. I am so grateful for the 'throw away man' who decided to act instead of ignore those cries for help! Her family would have never found her.

Truly, what is this world coming to? Acts of abuse against animals - can you image what happens with the children of these people!

People who are capable of this kind of animal cruelty are dispicable and deserve to receive the same kind of treatment in return. Makes me sick to my stomach. I hope the rescuer gets a reward and that this poor dog finds it way to a good home.

Thank you for the kleenex warning! I am crying. It's the same push-pull that I always feel with stories like this...a despairing loathing for people who would treat a dog like this and the uplifting happiness that there are people who WANT to help. That a homeless man, who literally has nothing but the clothes on his back can care enough to search for a dog that is in distress epitomizes everything that is good about people. As for the dumper - he can rot in hell. (I picked the mildest phrasing I could come up with - the other ones were too mean for public display).
I emailed this to my sister in Memphis and asked her to go adopt him. She probably won't, because they've never had a dog that is bigger than 15 lbs but hopefully she can spread the word!

People that do that have serious problems - wonder how they treat humans that talk back and make them angry????

I can't even imagine how sick someone would have to be to do this to a dog. I sure hope they are caught. What a brave girl.
