Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
This is the hardest thing I have had to do...New Jersey Doodles will know my "Doodlenot" Woody. He would go to the doodle romps he is a golden lab mix just missing the poodle but, we did not want to leave him out.. He is now 16 and a half. His health is failing fast. In July our vet told us maybe 3 months if we were lucky and then he lives on morphine because of the pain. He pants all the time, he is now walking and limping on every leg. He is full of tumors not sure if they are cancer or not. Now he is falling as he walks he seems happy but, yesterday when I threw his ball he only wanted to go catch one time. (If you know Woody you would know why this upsets me). People tell me the dog will let me know when it is time. To watch this dog in pain and the struggle to walk is killing me. HELP I don't know what to do. I would just like to hear from anyone that has had to make this terrible call.

Thinking of you Marianne.
I'm so very sorry and sad for your loss.
I have been off DK for awhile, attending to Woody and life. I just want to let you know that he has given me the signs of laying his head in my lap and starts to cry. He just looks into my eyes and continues so tomorrow at 2pm we will say good bye. Many know Woody as my doodlenot he has gotten to know many of our doodle friends. I know when you think of him it will be with 2 tennis balls in his mouth.
Valerie, I am sorry to hear your sad news. I hope you still have a long time of good days ahead of you with Darby.
Valerie, not what we hoped for, but we're sending love, hugs, to you, Marianne, and Sheri. We'll keep praying that you have more good days than bad, and that you each have a joyful and peaceful Christmas together with your beautiful dogs. Our prayers continue for each of you.
Valerie, I'm sending much love to both you and Sheri. I so hope that everyone has a wonderful and pain free Christmas and many, many months after that!!! I know it is hard to relax and enjoy yourself when your baby is in pain.
Valarie -- We are going through Chemo for cancer with our Sophie right now. Right before she was diagnosed I was having a terrible time getting her to eat. Who would ever think they would turn down hamburger. Karen suggested that I try mashed sweet potatoes. If you haven't tried that you might give it a try. I was able to mix the sweet potatoes in with her kibble and that is the one thing that she would eat for me on an on-going basis better than anything else. Other things she might eat once. Now that she is on prednisone she will eat anything so I don't have that problem at the moment. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Darby.
Here's hoping that Woody and Darby both have a wonderful Christmas. My thoughts are with you both.
