Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I am totally in love with my Labradoodle Phoebe. It was a firm decision to, someday, get another one. With the growing number of pets in shelters I felt it would be politically correct to try a rescue. If it were meant to be I would find a labradoodle pup to keep Phoebe company. If not, I look to the breeders.

And then there was Humphrey.

His dark eyes jumped off the page as I viewed his picture and profile. He is Poodle-something -- if any of you want to take a stab at it be my guest. He is about 4 – 4.5 months old and looks like he will be about 35-40 lbs tops. I must have looked at his picture a zillion times. Should I or shouldn't I? Our Lhasa has not been well, but I do have my summer off. A good time to break in a puppy. So I sent off my application, attaching adorable photos of our current fur children.

We took Phoebe over to the rescue foster home last night and the two became instant buddies. I could not see Humphrey's face for the first 15 minutes we were there since he was under Phoebe in a tandem romp. His body is doodleish. He is leggy. What a love. No question, he was coming home with us.

We stopped by my sister’s on the way home. Humphrey held his own with the big Old English Sheepdog. He explored their house and seemed to fit right in. My sister wanted to keep him.

Humphrey is a delightful little passenger in the car. Check.

Humphrey got out of the car with Phoebe and they both immediately ran to the laundry room door – like he knew. He came in to meet Hobbes. Check. Within minutes he was in and out of the doggie door. He loves to be held and his tail swings back and forth like a metronome in high tempo. Check. Check.

Jess and I decided the little fellow would be OK and we did not take the crate out. He did fine. Albeit I found six or seven stuffed animals out in the yard. Phoebe has never done that, so I watched. Sure enough our little fellow picks up an oversized stuffed animal and happily skips with it through the doggie door. He really is precious.

Stay tuned for more photos of our new little guy. Phoebe grew so fast, I will try to make sure we chart Humphrey’s progress.

So cute! Funny how our animals just 'pop' into our lives as if it was always meant to be!
