Yesterday was a total washout with the “outer bands” of Hurricane Matthew. This fickle hurricane did not follow the predicted path of turning East and looping to the South. We were battered with very gusty winds and torrential rain Saturday and Saturday night. The rain finally quit this morning. The total rain fall from the storm was 7 inches at my house.
View of the weather through the kitchen door.

Haley does not like to go outside in rain and wind. He finally HAD TO GO POTTY badly enough to do it last night just as we had lost power and DH was at the garage trying to get the generator in all this nasty weather. I put Haley’s snow suit on him let him out and tried to watch him from the back porch. When Haley finally came inside most of him except his back, hips and upper legs were drenched.
At bed time I put his snowsuit back on him and remembered the hood which we had never used.

A mostly dry doodle came back from this potty break.

Running the house on the generator.

The trailer and wheelbarrow were used to cover the parts of the generator that needed to be rain free.

Matthew exiting the area.

I truly feel for all of those who really got socked by this hurricane.

Anne, just home and seeing this. Hope all is back to normal.  Matthew was terrible. We were lucky here. Haley, bless your heart.  I love the expression. Donna, wow! I'm sorry Matthew made its way to you.  Hope all is getting back to normal for you guys too.

Wow Donna, had no idea Matthew made it's way by you. Glad you are ok. What a storm!

Donna – Your pictures are horrific. It wasn’t that bad where I live but in eastern N. C. the images I see on the news are like yours. And, the flooding there just gets worse with dams bursting as the rivers rise. Glad you are okay.
Joani – That’s interesting about the noise of rain. Haley will go out if it is only lightly raining without raincoat but won’t if it is heavy unless he has a raincoat on and if it is real heavy rain he doesn’t want to go out at all.
BG; Jenny – Thanks.
Nancy – Haley is so good about wearing anything including a Gentle Leader head collar. I sure hope your drought breaks soon.

Donna, so glad you and your family are okay too! Looks like it created quite a mess for others though.  That was one nasty storm.

Happy to hear you all weathered the storm well. Matthew changed his travel plans and paid a little visit to our corner of the world.  We are fine but some folks didn't fare as well.

Poor darling.  Glad the storm is over.  I've heard it's the noise from the rain that seems to be the bothersome part for our pooches.  Skadi will just stand in the doorway when it's raining...Elli doesn't care ...then again Skadi is afraid of the noise from my hand held vac and Elli isnt bothered.

Haley looks so cute in his suit...glad it kept him dry.  Water is so necessary and so scary all at the same time!

HVAC vent...that sounds pretty bad!   Good thing you caught him in the act or you might never know!

Anne, I'm glad you and your family are safe from the hurricane and it has said goodbye!  Haley looks ADORABLE in his snowsuit!  :)

Glad you are safe and sound. Haley looks pretty dashing in his rain/snow suit. Good thinking.

DonMarie – Our previous dog figured out the indoor plumbing thing. One time he used the return for the HVAC which is in the floor. Fortunately the filter soaked it up and I just changed the filter and washed the grate. I caught him in the act and let him know it wasn’t appropriate behavior. He never did it again.
Linda – It is all normal here now. Our power was restored around 10:30 AM yesterday after being off for about 20 hours. There are still a lot of power outages. The flooding in N. C. is just terrible.
Janie –Haley is so good about having his snowsuit put on him (and even boots when there is snow on the ground). Can you imagine a soaking wet Haley and how long it takes for him to dry out. lol
Ricki – I went outside in strong gusty wind just to get a picture of H. Matthew leaving.
