Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

This morning  while I was folding laundry my mind started wandering, no big news there. I started to think about how long I have been on DK. I feel like I actually know many of you well. I talk about some of you all the time (all good) in my daily life. On Yappy hour last night a few of us mentioned how our DH's knew names of people and doodles like they were family. They have asked about so and so when things have gone wrong. My husband checked in to see if Guiness was feeling better. My point is, I realized that for two years many of you have been just as big a part of my life as people I see in the flesh. For the past two years my life has been richer and definitely funnier thanks to all of you!!

Anna, I consider you one of my closest DK friends.  After all, you have my home address!  Also you shared with us and allowed us to support you during an incredibly difficult time in your life.  I feel a great deal of respect for you.  You are a great person Anna.  Thanks for posting this.

I was only thinking the other day that I have been here now for over a year.  You are so right to mark the time you have been here and to reflect about it.  As one of the few who live very far from you all I think I am even more unusual.  It took months before I shared you all with my partner and only today he asked if he could look through all the photo's because he wanted to see  some great looking doodles. He enquires about sick doodles because he knows how worried and concerned I am.

In times gone by when there was no internet and I was a child I had several pen-pals in foreign countries.  That is the nearest experience I can think of to compare this with and it is very far from the realities of the real friendships and care that we have for each other and for our dogs here on k.

Thank you for reminding me what DK means to me.

Anna this is a great blog. I feel the same way as you do about this site. I don't tend to tell a lot of people about DK as sometimes people thing it's odd to spend so much time on the internet chatting with people I've never met. But they don't understand the connections that can be formed between people who share a common passion. Sometimes I feel I can be more myself on DK than in real life. I'm certainly more expressive. I don't have a DH but if and when I do, I expect that he will have to embrace my DK family as much as my own real life family. :)

Anna this is so true. People think I'm a bot off when I talk about this site and people and doodles that we never met in person. It's the greatest thing ever, comforting to know someone is always there for us!

I really enjoy our extended family here and feel that if I wanted to travel cross country with my dogs, I would have friends to visit and welcome us all along the way.

I cannot imagine not going to this site everyday, I have been on here for over 2 yrs now, maybe closer to three years, and the friends I have made here are as meaninful as my friends I see in person all the time.  Yes we do care for each other, and we cry when there is sadness, and we celebrate all the joys of our families, two legged and four legged, whatever the need, we are all there for each other, and I wouldn't change a thing about any of us, lol...I am proud to say I am a doodle addict, and the knowledge and friendship I have gotten here is a very big part of my and DH's life...Thank you all!!!

You're so right, Anna.  I sometimes have to remind myself that I haven't actually met (in person) most of my friends on DK; but that doesn't lessen the concern I have for sick pups or sick moms or the pleasure I take in some doodle's funny antics.  In some respects, we are all so different - spread throughout the world, different ages, different political views, different life experiences.  But we're all so connected by our love for animals in general and our doodles in particular!
