Last night my husband and I are sitting in our parlor having a cocktail. My husband notices that Achilles is not in my lap ( where he usually is) . He gets up to check on him, and says the back door is open. My son had taken Achilles out and then went upstairs. The door did not close when he came in. Achilles is not in the house. PANIC! We ran outside and there my baby was in his pen digging up a root. Thank god he loves this fenced in area that we play with him in. I don't know what I would have done if he was gone. I could not sleep last night just thinking about it.

OMG, that is so frightening...thank goodness he is there and what a good boy to stay in his pen...I probably would have been hysterical and I like you would be kissing and hugging him for the rest of the night...Panic attack big time....

I can only imagine your relief, and am sure Achilles got some extra hugs for not running off!

I just LOVE when the "big guys" think they are lap dogs! I had a 125 pound Golden retriever who thought he was 25 pounds every time he pounced on top of my lap!

Thanks everyone. Shelly some how all 70 pounds of him fits in my lap.Not comfortably, but I wouldn't have it any other way.I think I have kissed and hugged him a thousand times. He keeps looking at me like whats up with you today!

Thank God he was safe! I know what you mean about thinking about the "what-ifs"... try not to think about it. Focus on how good things turned out! One question - just HOW does Achilles fit in your lap!? LOL

I remember once, my oldest son was about two... he figured out how to open the garage door, hit the button to open the garage. 8AM on a Saturday our doorbell rings. Our two year old was out in our front yard, chasing our dog around, in his diaper.

It was completely terrifying. The idea that something so dangerous could happen right under our nose... that we came that close to a potential nightmare. You can't help but have your mind run through all the "What if"s.... at some point you just have to take a deep breath, be so thankful it didn't happen, and try to prevent it from happening again. In our case we actually disconnected the garage door button so it couldn't be pushed by little hands again.

So glad your close call was just a scare!
