We have a big TV in the basement family room and that is where I like to watch movies. When I just had Yankee, he would lay on the couch beside me or with his head on my lap while I watched DVD's. Well, Finn has decided that he also likes to lay on the same couch. So, now if I watch a movie, the dogs have to jockey for position to see who gets to lay beside me. Yankee will grab a toy to get Finn's interest so he will jump off the couch. Then Yankee will take his spot on the couch.

Now I have learned that I have to get my spot on the couch before the dogs head to the basement. If I don't, this is what it looks like:

I just love this picture! Benny also is able to use most of the couch so that there is actually only a tiny spot left over for DH and me although it is a 4 seater.

My daughter has a beige microfiber that is wearing very well considering they've had it since Marley (70 pd, 2 yr old doodle) was a puppy. It shows dirt, but it really steam cleans up easily. Maybe it's the type of cloth? Either way, we will have to get one with two chaise lounges as DH will want one and Murphy will want the other!!

We have leather -- and as you can tell from my picture, Agnes thinks of it as her couch, as well. She sleeps on it all the time! It has held up just fine so far. We use a leather cleaner periodically that seems to perk it up a bit.

I can't have leather upholstery because my cat has all her claws, but I can testify to the fact that the leather seats in the car hold up to Jack's dirt, nails, hair, etc. a thousand times better than my fabric seats ever did.

So is the general consensus more for leather than cloth? Have to buy a couch....don't have one yet due to moving, and was wondering about that. I do let mine on the furniture,so I was leaning towards leather or really dark brown....and investing in a steam upholstery cleaning machine. What's your opinions, those of you with couches?

I have a leather couch on the main floor and they actually wrestle on it. Yankee has been sleeping on it for over a year and it's good as new.

We just bought a new sofa because ours looked like everyone elses on here. I will not let Jordan on it,but it is funny because the cats are on there.Jordan will give me this look Why are they allowed and not me? I do catch her on the new sofa sometimes which leads me to think Daddy is letting her up.

We gave up on cloth and went to leather and fake leather in our den years ago. Not as comfy but I can wipe them down. We do have cloth in the living room and it is dirty from these sneaky boys. I keep getting the cushions cleaned but when we recover them I will use non-cloth. I give up.

I bought a small rocking chair and it's next to the couch so that's where I sit now. Sometimes Finn takes up the whole couch and Yankee sits there staring at him and trying to find room to fit. If I am on the couch with Finn, Yankee stares at me so I actually move. I must be nuts.
