As many of you khow, I have been expecting my second grandbaby any day now. This is my only daughters first child after years of trying to concieve.  And some of you may know that I am also a Labor and Delivery RN as well as a Lactation Consultant. After helping 1000's of young women have their babies, I have for years waited for the day I would be the grandmother on the recieving end of my own daughter's baby, helping her, guiding her, comforting her and walking with her through this amazing journey into motherhood.

I have been blessed with the gift of helping mothers with this momentous journey and have always been grateful and humbled by being in such an awesome profession that I get to witness a miracle every day, several times a day.

I had prayed for my daughters experience to be everything she ever wanted, for all that she invisioned in her mind and in her heart, for how she wanted to bring her child into the world and for the guidance from God that I would be wise enough, calm enough and strong enough to help her with this.

Well, she and her DH delivered their beautiful baby girl today. She is healthy and safe in her parents arms. My daughter was beyond amazing and she and I were in total unison and control as she went from early to active to pushing stages of labor. Her goal was a safe, unmedicated and peaceful birth. And she got everything she wanted and she was everything I knew she would be.

I was privilaged today to participate in the birth of my granddaughter and share the most precious life altering moments a mother and daughter could ever pray for.  If there are any gifts greater than this in life, I don't know what they could possibly be. I am humbled to think God would bless me and my family this much.

Here is Logan Gail, 6 pds, 12 oz. 20 inches long. Born at 1:32 pm. after 5 1/2 hours of labor.

Well ladies, once again thank you for your wonderful congratulations. I am off to play grandma to Logan and mommy to the new mommy. Making her fav. organic beef stew for dinner and putting her into a nice essential oil bath for her sore bottom. While I spoil my precious Logan. Talk later.

We serve an awesome God and you are quite correct in that Logan is a miracle!  And, what a blessing for her to have you as her grandmother :o) and for your daughter to have you as her mom!  Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Wow Cheryl, I am touched by this this as I had a similar situation with my sons wife. She only wanted my son and not even her own mother. I was not upset,I'm not her mother, but I was sad for her to not have the support that I knew she would benefit from by having both of us with her. I did however get to choose a dear friend as her labor nurse and she and my son were very happy with the birth of their son. And that is really all that matters. We saw him within minutes and you are right, it is the next best thing.
Now however, after seeing how much our daughter has leaned on me since the very beginning and hearing about our daughters delivery and how she did this with both her parents there to help support her and her husband, she has said shed like for me to be with her for the second baby, someday.
So, after one DIL hears how awesome it was for her brother in law and sister in law to have you there, she may just have a change of heart. They have no idea how fortunate they are to have you and 25 yrs of delivering babies experience with them. it is a very exciting time for your family. You will of course love both babies the same, but you will always have that something special with the one in NY. Please keep us posted too.
